Lance: The long road to why

.​🚨 PLEASE HELP CROWDSOURCE A DIAGNOSIS 🚨 15 years. Dozens of specialists. Countless tests. Still 0 answers.​

My dear friend Lance has been fighting a progressively debilitating, multi-system mystery illness since 2008. What started as occasional dizziness has escalated into a condition that makes it difficult for him to even sit or stand upright for more than 10 minutes.​ His symptoms worsened after a trip to Africa in 2022, and plummeted again following a spinal surgery in 2023. After more than a decade of searching, multiple specialists have now told him they simply do not know how to proceed. We refuse to give up hope.

​Does this combination of symptoms sound familiar to anyone?

🔴 Severe Positional Pain: Cannot sit or stand for >10 minutes without sharp back pain.

🔴 Neuropathic Pain: Widespread, intense burning sensation across his back.

🔴 Autonomic/Neurological: Constant dizziness, heart palpitations, daily headaches, and a heavy head.

🔴 Nerve Issues: Numbness in the left arm and both legs/feet.

🔴 Throat/Eye: Persistent feeling of a foreign object stuck in his throat, and chronic red/sticky eyes.​

THROAT DISCONFORT AND NECK PAIN: In 2017, he began experiencing the sensation of a foreign object in his throat. A few years later, he developed severe soreness in his neck and shoulders. Despite undergoing multiple scans and endoscopic evaluations, all tests have returned normal results to date

BURNING AND BACK PAIN: Immediately after returning from a trip abroad, he began experiencing a severe burning sensation in his back, particularly when lying down. The condition worsened following back surgery, with sharp pain occurring whenever he stands or sits upright for more than 10 minutes.

The BLOODY EYES: Occasional bloodshot eyes began around 2022. His eyes often feel sticky, which leads to frequent blinking.
He have undergone multiple examinations, but unfortunately, all results have come back normal.

THE HEADACHES: Headaches and dizziness started around 2008. At first, they would occur once or twice a month, but over time they gradually became a daily, nonstop issue. They are usually pressure/tension-type, with significant tightness and pressure around the back of my neck. Occasionally, He also experience episodes where I feel like I might faint. He have undergone multiple tests over the years, including CT scans, MRIs, a cardiac stress test, vertigo evaluations, and bloodwork. Despite these investigations, no clear cause has been identified.
