🎃✨🧡Carving pumpkins is a fun harvest-time tradition everywhere Halloween is celebrated! But, do you know where the tradition came from?

D​ecorating Jack-o'-lanterns originated in Ireland, but large turnips and potatoes were used! Immigrants brought the tradition to America, home of the pumpkin, and it became a beloved part of Halloween festivities. It has also become an art form in it’s own right, celebrating all kinds of individual passions!

🍏🍂🧡Days like today call for extra warm and cozy baking inspired by our Grandma Esther. The smells of cinnamon and apples wafting from Esther’s farm kitchen made the whole house smell like autumn!🍏✨

Apple crisps come together in a jiffy, and highlight the best of orchard season.🍏A scoop of vanilla ice cream nestled on top of this fresh, right-out-of-the-oven dessert is the perfect cap to a cold Minnesota day!❄️The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s Apple House has great varieties for all your Fall baking, and is open through the end of October!✨🍏

Whew!👩‍🌾🍂🧡🦙For the past week we have spent most of our time at the farm, working on the main plot at Esther’s Garden!

With a sweet, but watchful eye, Jupiter the Llama oversaw the clearing of the garden to prep for next year. The sheep & llama were the happy recipients, and quickly gobbled up everything we shared with them! No hauling for us - just rich compost courtesy of our pasture residents!🍂🧡🍁

This time of year calls for hearty appetizers of artisan cheese paired with spicy handcrafted jams!🍂🧡Besides our usual fare, look for two Limited Edition small batch jellies this Thursday: Smoked Spiced Tomato Jam and Spicy Raspberry Spearmint Jelly!

The Smoked Spiced Tomato Jam is zesty and packed with rich tomato flavor! We like to serve it as an accompaniment to grilled meats - poultry in particular! The Spicy Raspberry Spearmint Jelly is just as sweet and spicy as it sounds! With bright fruit notes, this jelly pairs beautifully with creamy cheeses.🌶✨🧀

Have you had a chance to try our delicious, organic, homemade shortbread?💕Market shoppers continue to come back time and again to purchase a new flavor, or grab their old-faithful favorite. We offer a wide variety for every taste including Rosemary and Orange-Thyme for those favoring a more refined and savory experience, Spiced Pumpkin shortbread (and tea biscuits!) for those truly embracing the season, and Pure and Simple for those that enjoy an unembellished buttery treat!

Keep an eye out for our limited releases! We’ll be bringing back our popular Walnut Shortbread this week, baked in the shape of a whole walnut still in the shell.

There will be a bit of a chill in the air tomorrow at the Victoria Farmer’s Market - but not to worry! favorite sweater and have an adventure at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum!

Our most recent trip revealed nature in all it’s autumnal glory - including a little furry friend fattening up for hibernation!🐿✨This chipmunk is enjoying a nibble in a late-season Alpine Strawberry patch! From scarecrows, to pumpkin houses you are guaranteed to have a lovely time at the Arb!🍁🍂🧡
