Another chapter closed. Last night, the girls attended the first annual Forensics Awards Dinner. It was a black tie event, and it was a truly wonderful way to end the year. Selah won two awards, Best Actress and the Director's Award. You would never know this was her first year in Forensics. I am thankful for the opportunities this has given her.

Another special moment was the arrival of the former Forensics teacher - it was a total surprise. Mrs. Boydston was the teacher while was in Forensics, and I spent many years with her.

Mr. Partain stepped in mid-year knowing lots about theater but little about Forensics. He took to it so well, and it is obvious how much he loves these kids. We parents love him too. I can't wait to see how Trinity grows under his leadership next year.

I also have enjoyed getting to know the other parents. There have been many late night conversations in hotel lobbies, early mornings eating hotel eggs, long days sitting at cafeteria tables, and tears of sorrow and joy watching our kids go through the ups and downs of competing. I will miss the ones that "graduate" with their seniors, and I am thankful for the ones who have another year ahead with me.

Forensics has been integral in the lives of my kids. This chapter is done, but I am excited for the years to come.
