Your workout doesn’t have to look like a workout this weekend. ☀️💛

Go for a walk.
Take a hike.
Ride your bike.
Go swimming.
Get out on the water.
Play with your kids or grandkids.
Move because it feels GOOD.

We talk a lot about strength, muscle, balance and mobility.
But here’s WHY we work on all of those things.

So we can LIVE.

Fitness isn’t supposed to keep you from enjoying your life.
It’s supposed to help you stay strong, healthy and capable enough to enjoy MORE of it.

So this Labor Day weekend, get outside, move your body and have some fun.

And if your normal workout routine takes a back seat for a couple of days?
That’s okay too.

Enjoy your weekend. ❤️

Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy!

Going away for Labor Day weekend?

You don’t need to skip your workout because you don’t have a gym.
And you definitely don’t need an hour. 💪☀️

If you have 20 to 30 minutes, focus on the movements that give you the most bang for your time:
🔥 Squat
🔥 Hinge
🔥 Push
🔥 Pull
🔥 Core

Do each exercise for 40 seconds, rest for 20 seconds, then move to the next one.
Go through the circuit 2 or 3 times depending on how much time you have.
That’s it.

You don’t need 12 different exercises.

You need a few good movements that challenge your muscles and work your whole body.
And vacation doesn’t have to mean doing nothing OR following your normal routine perfectly.

Do what you can, enjoy your weekend and keep moving. 💛

Save this one for Labor Day weekend! 💾

If you’re over 50, stop thinking about muscle as something that just changes how your body looks.

Muscle does SO much more than that. 💪

It helps support your metabolism.

It works with your bones to keep you strong.

It helps with balance and stability.

It makes everyday things like carrying groceries, climbing stairs, getting off the floor and picking something up easier.

If you’re over 50 here’s something I really want you to hear.

You can still build muscle and get stronger.

We’re not strength training just to slow down what happens as we age.
We’re giving our bodies a reason to adapt and get stronger.

That’s why I talk so much about progressive strength training.

I’m not training in my 60s because I’m trying to look 30.

I’m training because I want a strong, capable body NOW and for the decades ahead. 💛

And that’s what I want for you too.

If you’ve been thinking about starting strength training but aren’t sure where to begin, comment GOALS below and I’ll reach out to schedule your FREE Discovery & Goal-Setting Session.

No pressure, just a conversation about what would work for you.

Want to get a little more out of your walk? 🚶‍♀

Here are two ways to change it up.

First, try changing your PACE.

You may have heard about Japanese interval walking. The idea is really simple:
🚶‍♀️ 3 minutes at an easy, comfortable pace
🔥 3 minutes of faster, more powerful walking
Then repeat.

Another option that’s everywhere right now is the weighted vest.

Adding a little weight can make your regular walk more challenging.
But here’s what I want women over 50 to understand.

You don’t NEED a weighted vest to make walking more effective, and wearing one isn’t automatically going to build muscle or stronger bones.
It’s simply one tool that may be appropriate for some people.

You can get plenty of benefit by changing your pace and adding intervals without wearing anything at all.

And whether you walk with a vest or without one, walking still doesn’t replace progressive strength training. 💪

So change your pace. Add some intensity. Challenge yourself appropriately.
Your walk doesn’t have to look exactly the same every day.
Have you tried either interval walking or a weighted vest? Tell me below. 👇

September is a great time for a RESET. 🍂💪

Maybe summer schedules, vacations, dinners out and weekends away got you out of your normal routine.

Here’s what I don’t want you to do:

Try to make up for it.
You don’t need to get back to where you were overnight.

Start with where you are NOW.

🥗 Make one better choice at your meals
💪 Get back to strength training
🚶‍♀️ Move your body every day
💧 Drink your water
😴 Pay attention to your sleep.

You don’t need to change everything at once.

Pick a few basics and start doing them consistently again.

And if you’d like a little structure to help you get going, I have a FREE 5-Day Healthy Living Reboot inside my Ageless Strength App.

Five days to refocus on the basics and get yourself moving in the right direction again.

Comment REBOOT below and I’ll send you the details. 💛

Meet Andrea. 💛
She’s 79, and this is what strength training looks like for her.

Squats. Push-ups. Rows. 💪

Nothing fancy. But every one of these movements has a purpose.

Squats build the lower-body strength we use every time we sit down and stand back up.

Push-ups build upper-body strength for pushing ourselves up and handling everyday tasks.

Rows strengthen the back and help support posture and everyday pulling movements.

This is what I mean when I talk about functional strength.

We’re not doing exercises just to get better at exercising.

We’re building strength that helps us carry groceries, get out of a chair, climb stairs, travel, play with the grandkids and continue doing the things we love.

And Andrea is a great reminder of something I want more women to hear:

You aren’t too old to get stronger.

Not at 60. Not at 70. And not at 79. ❤️

Give Andrea a little love in the comments! 👏💪

Everyone’s talking about protein right now. 💪

And yes, especially after 50, protein is incredibly important.

But a high-protein meal isn’t automatically a balanced meal.

There’s something else I don’t want you forgetting.

FIBER. 🥦🫐🥑
Fiber supports digestive health, helps keep you satisfied, and plays an important role in healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

So instead of making nutrition complicated, start looking for BOTH protein and fiber when you build your meals.
🥣 Greek yogurt + berries + chia seeds
🥗 Chicken + beans + veggies
🌱 Tofu + edamame + vegetables
🍳 Eggs + avocado + whole-grain toast

Two simple questions:
Where’s my protein?
Where’s my fiber?

You don’t need a perfect diet. Start there.

Save this for your next meal prep. 💾

Comment MEALS below and I’ll send you my free 3-Day Meal Prep Guide. 💛

Which one do you think you need to work on more, protein or fiber? 👇

We’ve talked about why power matters after 50.

Quick reminder: strength is how much force you can produce. Power is how quickly you can produce it. ⚡
So how do you actually TRAIN for power?

You don’t need a completely different workout. Start with movements you may already be doing and add a little speed and intention.
💪 Stand up from your squat more quickly
💪 Add a strong knee drive to your step-up
💪 Try medicine ball slams or throws
💪 Add a squat jump, or keep it low impact and focus on a faster stand

The goal isn’t necessarily heavier weight.

And it definitely isn’t moving so fast that you lose your form.

Control the movement, then focus on performing the working part a little faster and more explosively.

And here’s something we sometimes forget. Give yourself enough rest between sets so you can actually produce that power again.

After 50, I want us training strength AND power.

We build the strength, then we train our bodies to USE that strength when life asks us to. ⚡💪

Save this for your next workout. 💾
