Please don’t assume you’ll automatically hold the baby when you come meet them.

Because sometimes that’s the last thing a new mom wants.

Not because she’s rude.
Not because she doesn’t love you.

But because she’s healing.
Bonding.
Protective.
Overwhelmed.

Sometimes she just wants to hold her baby herself.

And that is okay.

Meeting a newborn does not mean entitlement to physical access.
