Books are more than story time. They are also powerful tools for speech and language development.

Pointing, making sounds, copying gestures, and turning pages are all part of communication.

Repetitive, interactive books like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Never Touch a Dinosaur, All Better!, and Noisy Farm help children practice:

• New words
• Animal sounds
• Turn-taking
• Pointing and labeling
• Following directions
• Filling in familiar phrases
• Early pretend play

Try pausing during familiar phrases, asking simple questions, and expanding what your child says. Small moments during reading can build big language skills.
