The scale can tell you that your weight changed. But it cannot tell you the whole story.
If you’re using a GLP-1 for weight loss, I think there are other questions worth asking:
Are you getting stronger?
Are you eating enough to nourish your body?
How is your energy?
How are you recovering?
Are you moving better?
What is happening to your relationship with food and your changing body?
In Part 2 of my GLP-1 series, I’m sharing what I actually pay attention to when supporting women using these medications: strength training, body composition, nourishment, walking, recovery, function, and health beyond the scale.
Because my question isn’t only:
“How much weight did you lose?”
I also want to know:
“What are we helping you keep?”
Your strength, your energy, your nourishment, and your capacity to move through your life with greater ease and ability.
And beneath all of it is something Romans 12:1 continues to remind me of: this body was never something we had to conquer in order to become acceptable. It is a body we are invited to present to God and care for while we are here.
Medication may be part of that care. Strength training may be part of it. Nourishment, rest, medical support, and asking good questions may be part of it too.
The goal isn’t to make the body the center of everything. It is to remember the One who made it.
