One of the simplest and most beneficial things you can do for your newborn is skin-to-skin 💙

Holding your baby against your chest in those first hours after birth can help get breastfeeding off to a great start, support your body’s natural milk production, and give you both valuable time to connect. And remember…it’s not just for moms! Dads can enjoy the benefits of skin-to-skin, too.

Does it feel like your baby wants to nurse all the time? You’re not alone🤱

Newborns typically feed 10–12 times a day, and periods of cluster feeding are completely normal. While it can feel overwhelming, frequent feeding doesn’t automatically mean you have a low milk supply.

Watch for signs that your baby is getting enough milk, including:
💙 Healthy weight gain
💙 Plenty of wet diapers
💙 Feeding cues like bringing hands to their mouth, rooting, and sucking on their fingers

Remember, crying is a late hunger cue. If your baby is already upset, try calming them with skin-to-skin contact, rocking, or singing before attempting to latch.

Save this post for those newborn days or share it with a parent who could use a little reassurance💙

Breastfeeding should never be painful 💙

If you’re experiencing pain with latching, don’t assume it’s something you just have to push through. A painful latch can be caused by several things, including:

✔️ An incorrect latch
✔️ Vasospasms (Raynaud’s phenomenon)
✔️ Thrush
✔️ A ni**le bleb
✔️ Inverted ni**les

Sometimes, a simple adjustment, like trying a reclined breastfeeding position, can make a big difference.

If feeding is painful, don’t wait to ask for help. A lactation professional can observe a feeding, identify the cause, and help you and your baby breastfeed more comfortably.

You don’t have to struggle through it alone. Save this post for later or share it with a parent who may need the reminder that pain is not part of normal breastfeeding 💙

One of the most common questions new parents ask is, “Is my baby getting enough milk?” 🤱

The good news? There are several signs you can look for, including:
✔️ Frequent, effective feedings
✔️ Plenty of wet diapers
✔️ Healthy weight gain
✔️ A content baby after feeds

If you’re worried about your milk supply, you’re not alone. Pump output doesn’t always reflect how much milk your baby is getting, and many factors can affect both feeding and pumping.

If something doesn’t feel right, reach out! We’re happy to help with breastfeeding support, including pre- and post-feed weighted feedings to make sure your baby is transferring milk effectively.

Save this post for those late-night moments when you’re wondering if everything is okay, and remember, you never have to navigate breastfeeding alone. 💙
