🌿 Meet the Provider: Monejah King, PMHNP-BC🌿

Welcome to Opal & Oak Psychiatry and Wellness! We're so excited to introduce the heart behind the practice.

Monejah's path to psychiatry didn't start in a classroom, it started at the bedside. She began her healthcare career as a CNA, working as a safety sitter to keep patients safe while she worked her way through nursing school. From there, she became a nurse across multiple specialties, including psych, med-surg, and ICU, eventually serving on the front lines as an ICU nurse during the height of the 2020 Covid pandemic.

That experience changed her. Watching colleagues carry trauma they didn't have words for, and carrying her own, showed her firsthand how deeply a career can reshape a person's mental health. It's what led her back to psychiatry, this time as a provider who truly understands what it means to walk through the hard stuff and come out the other side.

Today, Monejah specializes in working with patients many providers consider "complex." She believes that with the right support, and what she calls the "art of prescribing," people don't just stabilize. They get back to functioning. They get back to thriving.

She sees patients ages 6-65 and is passionate about meeting people wherever they are in their journey.
