As we celebrate this weekend, let us recall the origin and significance of this holiday.

Memorial Day…a sober time of reflection and respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Upon taking their oath of enlistment, each Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman or Coast Guardsmen writes a “Blank” check; a debt that we can never repay…the lives of those who made the pledge to defend our nation.

“Freedom is a light for which many of men have died in darkness.” To those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, we pledge to never forget. Bravery, duty and sacrifice are not mere words; they are what embodies the warriors who stood in the face of adversity to defend our nation, and guarantee our Republic will not fall.

God bless our fallen…you are not forgotten. For as long as we hold each of you in our hearts…you live on.
