We're almost there. A few more days and the wheel tips... the longest day, the shortest night, the sun hanging in the sky like it's got somewhere to be and absolutely refuses to leave.
Litha. The Summer Solstice. Midsummer. Call it what you will... the land doesn't much care about the label. It's just doing the thing, same as it always has.
This is the peak. The green fullness of it. The moment the year has been building toward since December when we were all huddled in the dark lighting candles and hoping for exactly this. And now here it is, and half of us are complaining about the heat. (The other half are at the beach. Good for them.)
Magickally speaking, this is a potent time... fire energy, solar energy, the kind of vitality that actually wants to work with you if you let it. Think: clarity, courage, abundance, protection. The old traditions called for bonfires, for staying up through the short night, for gathering St. John's Wort and elder flowers at the height of their power. You don't have to do any of that, of course. But if you've been waiting for the "right time" to act on something, to commit to something, to finally do the thing... the solstice is giving you a very loud green light.
Some ideas for working with this energy:
- Harvest herbs in the morning, when the sun is still climbing
- Light a candle at noon and sit with what you want more of
- Leave an offering outside... water, flowers, a few words
- Write down what you're ready to release and burn it.
The sun is generous right now. Soak it in. Do the work. Rest in the fullness of it.
Litha is almost here.
Let the wheel turn. 🌞
