I had so much fun with my daughter and her friends gathering beautyberry leaves for my bugspray. We gather, with permission, at the Sautee Nacoochee Center every year. I love this community so much. When she mentions "Midsummer," she means the centers outdoor performance of "A Midsummer Nights Dream," which she is in again this year. The Sautee Center is a fabulous place to meet others that care about history, native plants, natural remedies, and all a multitude of arts and handcrafts!! 💚✨️🌿

Honeysuckle is one of those plants that takes me back to childhood and brings me joy in every way. On my journey to learn about our plant allies, I have been so excited to find medicine in some of my dearest old friends. She still makes my heart leap to smell her, and that first blossom to hit my tongue each year still makes me feel the same happiness I did as a little girl. It's hard sometimes to find herbal medicine that our kids won't fuss about, but plants like honeysuckle make that much easier. I do hope I find the time to gather enough for jelly this year. It may not be health food per se, but a bit of honeysuckle jelly eaten in the dead of winter is definitely medicine for the heart. 🌿✨️💚

Y'all, this is so fun!! I love how much she wants to learn, and she's asking such great questions!! Wild onions are prolific here and can be found everywhere. I love making our onion powder from them. It's a much more nutrient rich seasoning than anything you can buy in the store! 🧅✨️💚

One of my daughters has recently asked me to start teaching her more about herbs and foraging, and I think this is a fabulous way to teach everyone!! Plant medicine is realtional. It's about connection with the plants, the earth, ourselves, and each other. So, here I am sharing my daughters education with all of you, too. 🌿✨️💚

Also, I should clarify that there are other pine species that have bundles of 5 needles, but there is only one, the eastern white pine, in our state of Georgia. 🌲🥰

Gathering spring plants makes my heart happier than just about anything. I gathered enough ground ivy, or creeping Charlie, to make my allergy tincture and tea the other day. It was a peaceful 30 minutes or so, and I made sure to leave plenty for the bees! 🐝

Ground Ivy is helpful for head and chest congestion and may help with tinnitus as well! I'm going to tincture it alone and see if it helps my Pop with his tinnitus! 🌿✨️💚
