Team Captain Tuesday: Meet Judy Edwards-Thrower 🧡

This , we’re proud to spotlight Judy Edwards-Thrower, captain of Team ThrowerGirl!

Judy’s kidney journey began in June 2022, when routine blood work led to an unexpected chronic kidney disease (CKD) diagnosis. Since then, she has made important changes to her diet and lifestyle, stayed committed to her care, and leaned on the support of her family as she continues putting her health first.
Through it all, Judy carries a powerful reminder from her son: “You have two things to do in life, a choice and a chance.” Those words continue to inspire the way she approaches her health and her journey with kidney disease.
Today, Judy brings that same strength and determination to Team ThrowerGirl, helping raise awareness and showing others impacted by kidney disease that they are not alone. 🧡

The Journey: Diagnosed before birth with Multicystic Dysplastic Kidney disease, Willow has bravely navigated hospital stays, kidney surgery, and ongoing care to protect her remaining kidney.

The Spirit: Today, Willow is thriving, entering 5th grade, and refusing to let her diagnosis define her.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Maryland Kidney Walk Kickoff Event at The Grill at Quarterfield Station! 💚

We were so excited to see our amazing team captains, reconnect with friends, and enjoy a delicious dinner together. It was a successful and fun-filled evening as we officially kicked off the 2026 Maryland Kidney Walk season!

And look who else made a special appearance... Kenny the Kidney, our Chief Kidney Officer! 💚🦸‍♂️

A special thank-you to everyone who came out and helped make the evening so special. We also want to thank the wonderful staff at The Grill at Quarterfield Station for being so lovely to work with and helping make our kickoff a success!
