🧗‍♂️What does it take to rescue and care for patients in the rugged landscapes of Northwest Wyoming?

Recently, members of Cody Regional Health EMS and Wilderness EMS participated in an advanced search and rescue training exercise designed to simulate real-life emergency situations that can occur in remote locations throughout our region.

The training included multiple trauma scenarios, patient triage, rescue operations, emergency medical treatment, and coordinated communication between responding agencies. Participants practiced caring for patients with serious injuries while navigating challenging terrain and time-sensitive situations.

While we hope these scenarios never happen, training like this helps ensure our teams are ready when they do.

The dedication our EMS professionals show to ongoing education and preparedness is one of the many reasons our communities can feel confident knowing highly trained emergency responders are ready to answer the call.

👏 Please join us in thanking our EMS teams and community partners for their commitment to keeping our region safe.

🚑⛰️ Training for the emergencies we hope never happen. ⛰️🚑

Recently, Cody Regional Health EMS participated in a large-scale search and rescue simulation alongside community emergency response partners to practice caring for patients in challenging, real-world environments.

The scenario involved multiple injured patients, complex rescue operations, remote terrain, and coordinated responses between EMS, Search & Rescue, law enforcement, and emergency medical teams. From trauma care and patient triage to communication and transportation logistics, the exercise challenged responders to work together under pressure, just as they would during a real emergency.

These trainings are critical to ensuring our teams remain prepared to provide safe, effective, and timely care when every second matters.

At Cody Regional Health, we are incredibly proud of our EMS professionals and emergency responders who continuously train, learn, and improve so they are ready when our communities need them most.

❤️ Thank you to all of our community partners who helped make this training possible.

🚨 Behind every emergency response is a team that trains for it. 🚨

At Cody Regional Health, our teams are constantly preparing for the moments patients hope never happen — because readiness saves lives.

Recently, our staff participated in advanced simulation training alongside Sim-MT and our Region 5 partners to strengthen infectious disease response procedures, emergency communication, and patient safety protocols.

From rapid response timing to coordination with county, state, and federal agencies, this hands-on training challenged our teams to think critically, communicate effectively, and work together under pressure.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication our healthcare professionals show to continuous learning and preparedness so we can continue providing safe, high-quality care to the communities we serve throughout the Big Horn Basin. ❤️
