🌿 Black Walnut ~
In early autumn, the light green hulls of black walnuts fall from the tall trees~ a perfect time to gather up these round orbs. The walnut meat is excellent for eating; but it is the fresh hulls that are peeled away, turning a dark brown, that are used for making an herbal extract or oil. Black walnut hulls may support and clear the intestinal tract, act as a digestive bitter and tend to certain skin conditions.
We make Black Walnut as a single extract but also use it in our Para-Gone Formula as well as some of our body care items like the Black Walnut Salve & Wort Eraser Stick!
The green hull contains bitter quinones, such as juglone, fatty acids and bioflavonoids. There is a study from researchers at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health that highlights black walnut and other herbs for certain health concerns.
Fun Fact: If you crack open the seed, it looks like a heart! ❤️
