WOW. Today it has been 5 years since his last chemotherapy. This is a significant milestone in the cancer world and we are so blessed that he has reached this long-term survivor anniversary! Thank you to everyone who supported him through this journey and to all the doctors who saved him.

He did it! He takes his last chemo pill tonight after 3.5 years of treatment. I don’t think I could have ever imagined those first 97 nights in the hospital that we would make it to this day. We have so many people to thank that have helped us along this journey especially Dr. Dreyer, Dr. Fishman, Dr. Goss, Robin, Debbie, Jalene, countless PICU nurses including Donna, Sally & Anne! We need to thank our Aggie family for all their prayers, all our New Territory neighbors, childhood friends, Parkway United Methodist Church and so many more. We could not have done this without support as it has been very difficult. The journey is not over as Justin still needs to care for his liver, get monthly lab checks, and wait for 5 years to be considered cured. He has to endure the many side effects that the treatment has caused for many years to come.

Please sign up to be an organ donor and have the tough conversations before tragedy strikes. A selfless decision kept our child alive.

Young children often need to receive an organ from a donor of similar age/size for many types of transplants. The organs that children tend to need most vary by age:

💙 Under the age of 1, most children are waiting for a liver or a heart.
💙 Most children ages 1-10 are waiting for a kidney or liver, followed by heart.
💙 Most children ages 11-17 are waiting for a kidney, followed by liver.

Went to see Justin & celebrate his 6th Liverversary with him tonight in College Station! Thank God he’s feeling a lot better but now is playing catch up with his classes. We received his lab work early this morning and his blood counts and liver look great so he just had a bad tummy bug. This marks the first Liverversary we’ve had since the actual transplant with other family members present.

Remembering the day that changed our family’s life forever 6 years ago. While on vacation in Florida for spring break, Justin became deathly ill. What we thought was just going to be a liver transplant into 3.5 years of chemotherapy for leukemia. Thankful for God’s blessings that Justin is now a freshman at Texas A&M University! We are sad that Texas A&M does not have a spring break so that Justin could be beachside with us today but he could use your prayers to help him through his stressful midterms!

Came home for his COVID vaccine, Pfizer #1. He is humoring me by staying home for a couple days so we can monitor him for side effects.
