Just a reminder, gender affirming care is normal and is supported by major medical organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association. Gender affirming care (GAC) can encompass medical, social, psychological and or surgical care that helps align an individual with their gender identity. The majority of gender affirming hormone care is often handled by primary care practitioners but there is still a significant lack of physicians and practitioners who offer this care.

Gatekeeping … is when someone takes it upon themselves to decide who does or does not have access or rights to a community or identity. This can be a common occurrence when a trans individual seeks GAHC.
