𝐒𝐚𝐦 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐎𝐜𝐭. 𝟏𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐖𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬!

I apologize for the length of time between updates! We are so very blessed that Sam is feeling so good and His daraxonrasib-induced rash is almost gone!

𝐻𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑇ℎ𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑎 𝐶𝑇 𝑆𝑐𝑎𝑛, 𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑠, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑒𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟. It’s been about 2 months since he started the daraxonrasib and the results are to asses Sam’s body’s response to the medication. It’s been 5 weeks since we’ve had any type of appointment and it’s been so nice to not think about it much at all. We pray for good results on Thursday.

𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙙𝙢𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄’𝙢 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙭𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙥𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩. It is too easy for me to let satan put negative, scary, anxiety-inducing thoughts in my mind, despite my attempts to “𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑐𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒” (2 Corin. 10:5) and follow God’s commands to “𝑟𝑒j𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠" (1 Thess. 5:16) and “𝑑𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑓𝑒𝑎𝑟” (Isaiah 41:10). I try to turn my thoughts to the facts that God has not failed us and He will never fail us! I’m encouraged by Sam’s response to my anxiety: “𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁!” And I know he is right! No matter what the results are, they will not change our thanksgiving to God, our knowledge that He hears and is answering our prayers.

𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑚𝑎𝑧𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑡𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦, 𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝐺𝑜𝑑’𝑠 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑑 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑘𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑐𝑖𝑟𝑐𝑢𝑚𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒. The words of Psalm 112 were written about 2500 years ago, thousands of miles from our home…yet the apply to my life perfectly: “𝑆ℎ𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑎𝑓𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑏𝑎𝑑 𝑛𝑒𝑤𝑠; ℎ𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑚, 𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑑. 𝐻𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦; 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑏𝑒 𝑎𝑓𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑑.” Ps. 112: 7-8.

𝐼 𝑝𝑟𝑎𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐻𝑜𝑙𝑦 𝑆𝑝𝑖𝑟𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑆𝑎𝑚’𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑦 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝑒 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑓𝑒𝑎𝑟! We will live with joy, knowing that no matter what, God is with us in every circumstance. Joy is something we feel despite our situation. We can be in sad, confusing, difficult situations and still feel the deep down joy of knowing Jesus, knowing our sins are forgiven, and knowing that we will be in heaven someday, where there are no more tears or sickness or sadness. 𝑰 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒋𝒐𝒚 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍!

𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Sam’s daughter, Dani, is in the hospital again, as a result of not taking her medications. Unfortunately she had been using drugs again. We pray every day that she will look to God and turn her life around. It is a heartbreaking situation, especially for us as parents. Thank you for praying for her.

𝑰’𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒕𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌! It’s been months since they’ve been here and so much fun to catch up. I’ve also been blessed to spend time with little Addi, who is almost 5 months old! I love those baby cuddles! Everyone who says being a grandma is the best, is right! 𝔾𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕕𝕜𝕚𝕕𝕤 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕓𝕖𝕤𝕥!

Wow—it’s October already and I haven’t posted in several weeks! We are doing GREAT! I’ve been very busy creating new products for upcoming events! We will be at Junkin’ Under the Oaks in Fullerton tomorrow and Sunday. It’s a beautiful venue with multiple vendors-hope you’ll come! (Sam update to come!) 𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐟𝐮𝐥! Throughout these months I have been studying about prayer, and something that has struck me is how often verses about prayer often include the command to “be thankful”. 𝐼 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝐼 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘𝑓𝑢𝑙—𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑖𝑑𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑎 𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑡 𝑠𝑒𝑒𝑚𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑓𝑜𝑟—𝑖𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝𝑠 𝑚𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐺𝑜𝑑 𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑔𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐻𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑠 𝑢𝑠 𝑠𝑜 𝑚𝑢𝑐ℎ!

𝙎𝙖𝙢’𝙨 𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙝—an expected side effect from the daraxonrasib, with almost 90% of people who take it experiencing it—𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙚! We have been praying for it to go away—praying with thanks that it is not bad, and with confidence that God hears our prayers and that His will will be done—and we are so very thankful that it is going away!

Sam has been feeling good—more answered prayers! He left for work a little after 3:30 AM! He has been doing this for years and is used to it—but we are so thankful that he is feeling good and able to do this.

We did an unusual thing a couple of weeks ago—we had a date night!!

He has appointments in several weeks for a follow up scan and labs.

“…𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙗𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙉𝙆𝙎𝙂𝙄𝙑𝙄𝙉𝙂, 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙤𝙙.” Philippians 4:6. (there is so much more to this verse and I will be writing more about it, but today I wanted to include it and encourage you to read it, and live it this week!)

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 “𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗼𝗱” 𝗜 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝗺 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁! 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸!)

𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙤𝙣 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙚𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 and I'm not meeting that goal lately! 𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑚𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑡 "𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑒𝑐𝑡"--as in, informative, entertaining, thought-provoking, and written with perfect grammar and precise sentences, and oh, not too long! Of course, some things, like essential oil products, need to be "perfect", but I have to let FaceBook posts be "good enough"--honestly, I could edit for hours and NEVER get ANYTHING posted!

𝐒𝐚𝐦 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭. 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡: “𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝒘𝒆𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒅!”

When we got into the van after our last appointment yesterday, Sam turned to me and said, “𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝐺𝑜𝑑 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑤𝑒𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝐺𝑜𝑑!” Through my happy tears, I agreed! We are so blessed that Sam has minimal side effects from the daraxonrasib (since it’s now FDA approved you’ll also hear it referred to by its trade name, Rasonque); we don’t need to see the oncologist again until the middle of next month!

A𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 90% 𝙤𝙛 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙪𝙜 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖 𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙝; we are thankful that Sam’s dermatologist says his rash is “mild” and is not expected to get any worse! It’s an acne-like rash on his face, chest and back. Sam says that sometimes it makes him feel like an awkward teenager again—he’s glad he doesn’t have to worry about having senior pictures taken or asking girls out on a date! Thankfully, most days it’s hardly noticeable.

𝙊𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙙𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙨—we have more to be thankful for in that Sam’s liver enzymes are all normal or heading down back to normal! We were almost home when my phone alerted me to more results; three tumor markers were also checked and ALL THREE ARE DECREASED! One of them is lower than it has been since this all started and it is only ONE POINT ABOVE NORMAL! Tears again…and all praise and thanks to God for answering our prayers and the prayers of so many praying for us! We are so blessed!

We do not need to see the oncologist until next month, when Sam will have a CT Scan and blood tests, to see how the daraxonrasib is working; it inhibits tumor growth by targeting the proteins that drive tumor growth so we pray to see evidence of this on the CT Scan and labs. 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨, 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙—people who did not get good test results. Children and spouses who died, despite prayers for healing. Family members and friends in the midst of grief. Those in the midst of illness, disease, personal and family struggles. I wish I had the “right” words to “make it all better” for everyone who is struggling in any way.

𝙄 𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙤𝙙’𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙨.
As we have felt so many times these last months, God is with us—ALWAYS. He hears our prayers—ALL OF THEM. Again and again we have turned to God and His Word. 𝑆𝑎𝑚 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑛𝑜𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒 𝑖𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑠𝑒 𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑡ℎ𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑎𝑦𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑢𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑠𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘 𝐺𝑜𝑑 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢!

As believers, we have the unshakable promise of heaven and eternal life. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻, 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱—𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁! Between Sam’s appointments we visited Dani in Blair. She slowly continues to get stronger physically but the nephrologist is recommending regular dialysis as her kidney function is decreasing again and they are having trouble getting the extra fluid out of her body. Unfortunately this added level of medical need may prevent her from going to drug rehab. We are praying that she will qualify for skilled care; her age and being on Medicaid make it difficult to find placement but it is not safe for her to go back to her previous living situation.

If anyone reading this has professional experience and knowledge in dealing with complicated situations like this, please let me know. The Social Worker and Case Manager are working on it too; it is a complicated situation and the usual placement resources are just not available to her. We know God has a plan for her!

Totally off the topic but in the spirit of spreading good news and encouraging others--😊 between our first doctor’s appointment, visiting Dani in Blair, and our second doctor’s appointment, we made a QUICK trip to Costco (I don’t think we’ve ever managed such a full cart and impressive total in such a short amount of time!)! The pictured chocolate is HIGHLY recommended—and I have a very high standard for “good” chocolate! I’ll share a piece or two if you ask!

• When browning hamburger, brown an extra pound or two and freeze it. This makes it quick and easy next time you’re making any recipe that requires hamburger!
• Pan fry a quantity of hamburger patties and freeze in meal-size packages. Thaw and fry with onions and mushrooms for a quick and yummy meal.
• Slice chicken breasts for stir fry, before freezing.
• Brown extra stew meat and freeze for the next time you make stew.
• When chopping onions, chop extra and freeze for a shortcut next time a recipe calls for onions.
• When peppers are on sale, or if you have extra in your garden, chop and freeze in recipe-size bags.
• Cook a quantity of dried beans, add spices, divide into one cup portions and freeze, for an economical and quick addition to recipes.

𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽:
• Add onion/pepper/taco seasoning/chili spices, etc. to the extra hamburger you brown, to make it extra quick to put together a meal. Just be sure to label the bag!
