We are in October! Can you believe it? We're about a month and a half out from her cholysectomy and so far so good. She's healing up and trying to get back to normal as much as possible.

Today we stopped at the local pumpkin patch. Her "battle scars" are healing nicely and as I told her, they'll continue to fade over the next year or so. I also told her the same advice I was given as a kid "Scars are cool. Chicks did scars." She kinda looked at me funny šŸ¤£ I don't think she gets the references to 90's movies made there.

Serenity has been doing okay since her procedure. A few days of having some slight tiredness that we may discuss when we go in November for follow-ups, but so far things have been smooth.

She is attending a concert this evening with friends. She missed a few this year due to being in the hospital, so this is her late birthday present.

Hoping she has fun and will try to get her to share some pics later this weekend.

We are a little over 2 weeks out from surgery and this child is doing pretty well overall. She's had pizza and a few fried foods with success - something she's been hoping for.

A few more months and we should know for sure how she's fairing from the damage to her pancreas. Still supplementing with Vitamin D for now, and at least another month and a half of Prilosec, but things could be so much worse than this.

Trying to get back into the swing of school. It's a slower ramp-up than I'd planned, but we are getting there.

We are home. Discharge came about 4pm, with traffic it was nearly 6pm when we got home. Got things out away, and made her a spot back in my office again where I'll sleep in my chair for the night so I can help her with getting up and down. Overall she's doing really well.

Today was bittersweet though. For the last 5 months the team at Nationwide Children's has been like a second family. We've spent almost as much time with them as we have at home since this started, and her procedure yesterday brings that to a close, as long as she continues to do well. Some of those faces that made these last 5 months a little brighter we likely won't see again and that part hurts, but we are so incredibly thankful for them all.

C5A/11B/5B teams, thank you. The Pancreas / GI team, thank you! VAT, thank you. All of the teams involved in the care there that we interacted with really were amazing.

We will have follow-ups, and it'll take a few more months to know if there's endocrine/exocrine function impairments, but the goal we wanted to meet is good.

Out of surgery and in her room. She's half in and half out, but said she's sore and sleepy and just wants to nap.

NPO for now. Liquids later tonight. Food tomorrow as long as it's tolerated.

Just got the text they're finishing up her procedure now and will be out to talk to me soon. They said she did well.

They just took her back to start. Procedure 1-3 (stent removals) first, should take 20-30 min. Then they'll do the gallbladder removal which they said takes an hour - 90 minutes.

Dr. Khan has finished his portion (removing all stents) and she is doing well. Liquids today, and we can start foods back up tomorrow as long as all is going well.

Now the gallbladder removal. He did say she is full of stones so this is absolutely the right move. Next update once that part is done.

They will call us tomorrow to give us the Tuesday arrival for the procedures. My bag is packed, and I'm ready for her to feel better.
