On February 7th, 2020, The Mid-Columbus (Georgia) Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc. supported heart health awareness by wearing red for this great cause. Additionally, The Club recognized Economic Development with a dynamic speaker and entrepreneur, Mr. Sabino Santiago who has owned Universal Hybrid Fitness for 22 years. He informed the audience of his journey to becoming a business owner and the process for becoming a 501(c)3 organization. Mr. Santiago intrigued the audience with safety awareness tips and demonstrated how to protect yourself from physical harm in the event of a robbery or kidnapping attempt. Our own Edith Coleman enlightened the audience on heart health awareness and diabetes awareness and prevention of both. Literature was provided, and she encouraged the audience to make a commitment to taking better care of their themselves by eating healthier, getting regular check-ups, an taking medicine as prescribed. The Club's President, Brenda Chambers, rallied the audience to "Stand up and be Counted" for the 2020 Census. She stressed the importance of providing necessary information for the census so that we can get the programs, resources, and services we need for us and our community. The evening culminated with audience participation in Black History trivia, savoring delicious soul food, and fellowshipping. Thank you to our guests for supporting our program!
