✨✨Why do I always go towards living donation as an option for me?✨✨

Well, it's faster. Average wait times for a kidney transplant can be over five years for a deceased donor. Living donor kidney transplant can happen within 3-6mo if the donor is healthy enough.

It's scheduled. This means the hospital and OR can have all hands on deck for the surgery. It's the safer option all around. It means *I* can plan for it.

It functions quicker. A living donor kidney does not take time to wake up. This means it starts to produce urine right away when it's hooked up. Deceased donor kidneys can take days to wake up, meaning more dialysis sessions even after transplant.

Please, if you have ever wondered about being a living donor, contact OSU transplant and just talk with them about it. They can answer any questions you have.
