A huge THANK YOU to Seymour Noon Lions Club for their generous grant to help fund two cars for Seymour residents!! Thanks for “Going Beyond Limits”-with us!!
Our club is proud to power another great local cause.
On Thursday night on behalf of the Seymour Noon Lions, Lion Zach Spicer presented a $1,000 donation and two stickers to Rebecca Scholl, president and co-founder of Go Beyond Limits . The Columbus-based nonprofit organization is dedicated to creating innovative adaptive solutions that increase independence, inclusion and opportunity for individuals of all abilities.
A few years ago, she got involved with Go Baby Go!, a national community-based research, design and outreach program that began in 2012 with founder Cole Galloway at the University of Delaware. Battery-operated ride-on cars are modified to meet the specific needs of each child in order to provide mobility and socialization for children with limited motor function.
In 2023, Scholl partnered with Cummins Inc. and Purdue Polytechnic Columbus to make three cars. Qualtronics and KPIT got involved in 2024 when four cars were made. Four more cars were made in 2025, and so far this year, Scholl has partnered with Purdue Polytechnic and Columbus Robotics Club to make five.
The car comes at no cost to the child, as any funding Scholl receives helps cover the cost to build the car, which varies depending on the customization needed but averages around $600.
Our club's donation will help fund a car for a Jackson County child, and a "Sponsored by Seymour Noon Lions" sticker will be included on the car.
When each car is completed, a delivery day event is conducted, which involves presenting it to the family, teaching them about the modifications of it and how to care for it and the child driving it on a racetrack and going through a "car wash." We look forward to a local child's car being completed so we can witness their excitement.
Scholl, a Seymour native, is a pediatric physical therapist with more than 30 years of experience across rehabilitation, school-based settings and adaptive camps. She currently works for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.
In April of this year, she started Go Beyond Limits to help with fundraising for one of the organization's programs, Go Baby Go of South Central Indiana. Another program is GoAbilites, which is focused on creating custom adaptive solutions, modifying toys and equipment and facilitating adaptive equipment exchanges to promote independence and participation. Ready, Set, Go! is in the works to promote inclusive recreation and adaptive sports.
