This Saturday, It Takes a Vilalge was invited to participate in the UGA Extension Office’s Week of the Young Child Event! We were assigned Tasty Tuesday and developed several activities related to nutrition for parents and their children to participate in. We also provided some information about healthy snacks that can be easily packed for when you are on the go!

March is Colorectal Cancer awareness month and It Takes a Village was invited to the UGA Extension Office on March 14th to give a talk on this topic. We spoke about what colorectal cancer is, risk factors, symptoms, statistics, and screening methods. Thank you to the UGA Extension Office for hosting this event!

It Takes a Village prepared a table in the lobby of Valley Healthcare this afternoon to speak with their patients about Colorectal Cancer! March is Colorectal Cancer awareness month and we are excited to get the opportunity to educate people about the risk factors, symptoms, and screening methods for colon cancer. Our trifold will be displayed at Valley Healthcare for the rest of the month with pamphlets available for pick-up!

It Takes a Village volunteered at the Feeding the Valley Empty Bowl event on March 9th! Empty Bowl is an event where hundreds of hand made and painted bowls are sold to the community as a way to raise money for the Kids Cafe program at Feeding the Valley. Kids Cafe prepares over 50,000 hot meals for children every year to fight food insecurity in Muscogee and Russell county. Every ticket purchased at this event includes a hand made bowl and a cup of soup! We had a blast wrapping up the beautiful bowls and meeting people in the community!

It Takes a Village visited Hope Harbour today for our first ever Field Day event! We had a blast playing with the kids and teaching them about the importance of exercise!

A HUGE thank you to all of the people that donated money and supplies to make this happen! We absolutely could not have done it without all of you! Thank you so much!

It Takes a Village organized a second-year medical student volunteer event today with Feeding the Valley! We packed 325 boxes which contained 7,475 pounds of food, and will provide 6,229 meals! We’ve been volunteering here for about a year now and are excited to get more medical students involved in this program!
