BIG Dylan, Bigger Miracles

This past Sunday we took D to go see Evan and see his dorm and the campus. Dylan got to come to two of the campus tours last summer, but he never got to see U of M. I could tell he was agitated about that.

So, we fixed that Sunday. From the time we told
Him Saturday until we saw Evan, he had the biggest grin. He was excited!!
We were very annoyed when we woke up on Sunday morning to rain. I told Michael we have to somehow make this work. And we did.

When we got to the campus, He smiled SO big when Evan walked in. 🥹💙

He also laughed at the trash on the ground at the frat houses. 😂🫣🤣

He was so happy to be included and to get to see where his big brother is living. His room, the building, the campus. It meant the world to us to be able to take him.

Slow and steady but we will.

We have a Sophomore!

Almost done!

Waiting on neuro for a few forms. And I still have to laminate some things, but we are close!

The prep needed to get Dylan ready for school starts in July. I have to reach out to each of Dylan’s 10 specialists to request updated plan of care forms, as well as seizure plans, and any other letters or directions to be updated for the school year.

I start early because depending upon the physician-their office, vacations, their patient load, etc. it could take up until today for me to get all the forms back, which is what happened in this instance.

I have to make copies and make a binder for the nurses, the bus, the school and I have to have my own copies on file.

I also have to update and laminate all of the new plans that go on the back of his wheelchair

In addition to all of that, we have to store all of the equipment that we use at school and then basically try to set up a private room for Dylan at school with all of his equipment and Medical needs. Its the equivalent of a dorm move in.

We did that today.

I couldn’t have done it without the help of my husband, lifting all the heavy things, in our caregiver and Dylan’s health aid, Brooke. Who made it so organized and helped me pack everything up yesterday after work. And then helped us unpack and decorate today. 

Pretty much everything in the room is provided by us. All of the medical equipment we paid for. All of the decorations. Me.

I do this because having him in school is what is keeping him going, and I truly believe that him being included gives him something to look forward to and is vital to his mental health.

Dylan had a good weekend with Daddy!

This morning i took him for a baclofen pump refill.

Dylan had a fun week back at the YMCA camp! He also had his usual therapies of AAC, PT, hyperbaric chamber, stander, music therapy and massage as well.

Today the camp ended with a field trip to Kensington Farm Center, where Grandma and Sully were able to join.

It makes my heart happy to get him out and socializing and doing things.

He also got a new sling for his hoyer lift and a haircut!
