💬 “The world changes much faster than people’s beliefs and skills do.” — Morgan Housel

Those are the first words in my book, Unlocking Athletic Potential.

⚡ SPORTS PERFORMANCE IS CHANGING FAST.

You can Google for hours. Or Ask ChatGPT.
And Follow 50 experts.
And Go down 100 rabbit holes.

The problem isn’t finding information anymore.

🎯 THE PROBLEM IS KNOWING WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS.

I spent 20+ years chasing what is coming down the pipe from the highest levels of sports performance and asking one question:

👉 How do we get those ideas into the hands of coaches SOONER?

That became Unlocking Athletic Potential.

📘 IT’S NOT A WORKOUT BOOK. IT’S A FILTER.

🎁 HAVE A COACH IN YOUR LIFE?
This might be the perfect gift.

🏫 ARE YOU AN AD, SCHOOL OR COACHING ORGANIZATION?
I’d love to bring these ideas into the room and present them to your staff.

🏆 The teams that recognize better ideas first have an advantage.

⚽️ FIRST PRACTICE TODAY

I get my team once a week.

They’re 6th–9th graders, almost all multi-sport athletes, and most of them show up tired.

So with one hour, the question matters:

Touches? Dribbling? Strategy? Whiteboard? Scrimmage?

The truth is, most youth coaches don’t have club-level kids who are 100% dialed into soccer. For a lot of mine, this is still the fun sport.

And I love that.

📘 That’s exactly why I wrote Coaching Youth Soccer Without Losing Your Mind.

Not more drills.
Not more X’s and O’s.
Not more complicated systems.

It’s about how to think like a better coach when time is limited and kids are still figuring out who they are as athletes.

I kept it inexpensive on purpose — and it’s free on Kindle Unlimited.

If you coach youth soccer, or know someone who does, this may be a better gift than another Starbucks card. 😂

⚽️ Have a great season, everyone.

I just got out of a meeting with one of the largest soccer organizations in our area, and I am incredibly thankful they took the time to hear my ideas and showed genuine interest in the book and coaching seminars I have built.

It reminded me exactly why I started doing this.

If you know someone coaching youth soccer, especially a parent who volunteered to coach for the first time, please send them this book.

Coaching Youth Soccer Without Losing Your Mind is not about complicated formations, elaborate drills, or pretending every youth coach is managing a Premier League club.

It is about creating an environment where kids improve, compete, and still love the game when the season is over.

I have coached youth soccer for nearly two decades, worked throughout my career in high-level sports performance, and watched my own four children progress from youth soccer into the high school game. Along the way, I have seen terrific coaches become overwhelmed, experienced players struggle to teach beginners, and well-meaning parents slowly become consumed by winning, playing time, and expectations.

This book shares lessons that took me years to learn, but it is designed to be read in about 90 minutes to two hours. It is practical, concise, affordable, and free through Kindle Unlimited.

I have also developed simple, one-hour seminars for clubs and organizations that want to give their coaches a fresh perspective. I am not trying to tell anyone exactly HOW to coach. I want to change the way they think about coaching.

Experienced coaches will find ideas that challenge them. New coaches will gain perspective and confidence that normally take several seasons to develop.

If you coach youth soccer, have a child playing, run a club, or know someone who just volunteered to lead a team, I believe the book and these seminars are absolutely worth a look.

Please help me get these ideas into the hands of the coaches that could use them!

I had a young gun in the office today for a hamstring issue that had been going on for nearly 3 weeks.

When I get these recurrent issues, the things that I see 100x per year, it’s probably worth putting an article together for.

Type “hamstring injury” into Google or TikTok and you’ll spend the next three hours going down a rabbit hole of stretches, exercises, opinions, and conflicting advice. Instead of …

I ⚽ You Don’t Have to Score to Control the Game

One of the ideas I come back to over and over in my youth soccer book is that we often teach kids to chase the wrong statistic.

Everyone notices goals. The Golden Boot goes to the player who scores the most, and those players deserve every bit of recognition they receive. But ask almost any coach who the most valuable player on the field was, and you’ll often get a completely different answer.

The player who constantly wins the ball back. The one who never seems to panic under pressure. The player who keeps possession, makes the right pass, organizes teammates, and quietly controls the rhythm of the game.

🏈 I use the same analogy with my teams all the time.

Patrick Mahomes doesn’t catch his own touchdown passes.

His greatness isn’t measured by touchdown catches. It’s measured by how he controls the game and creates opportunities for everyone else.

⚽ Soccer is exactly the same.

Rodri finished the World Cup with 0 goals and 0 assists, yet many people considered him the most dominant player in the entire tournament. He dictated the tempo, broke up attacks, kept Spain organized, and made everyone around him better.

That’s why I’ve always believed the most important award on a team isn’t necessarily the Golden Boot.

It’s the MVP.

Not because they filled up the stat sheet…

Because they made winning possible.

Those are the players I want young athletes to become. If they learn to value the little things—decision making, positioning, communication, composure, defending, and making teammates better—the goals usually take care of themselves.

📖 That’s one of the central themes throughout my upcoming coaching and youth soccer book. My goal isn’t simply to teach kids how to score more goals. It’s to help coaches, parents, and athletes understand what actually leads to winning.

Sometimes the best player on the field never scores at all.
