Dear friends and family, we want to keep you updated on Wynter’s care. This summer, we have two important surgeries planned. At Shriners in June or July, we’ll address the progression of Wynter’s hip dysplasia with a bilateral gastrocnemius recession and proximal femoral guided growth using screws, along with short leg casts. Then, in July or August, we’ll go to Ohio for another surgery to help diagnose and check for EOE. And, as we’ve done every year, we’ll be returning to Orlando in November for movement lessons. As we plan ahead, we’re also starting to brainstorm some extra ways to bring in additional income to help with these expenses. Thank you all so much for your love and support—we’ll keep you posted every step of the way!

This girl has had a great therapy day at Shriners in Greenville, South Carolina. We are standing upright and walking way more with the changes and help of bamboo braces.

The Airbnb was a Last minute expense I wasn’t prepared for but, I was able to move some bill around and get it taken care of for the week. Oddly the airbnb was cheaper then a Motel/Hotel with shriners’s patient discounts. A $150 difference 😅

We have been here since Sunday and it has been hot! In the 90’s today.

Half of the insulation was done today. We ran out so instead of asking for funds we are adding the list of two supplies that are needed to finish up the building. So far, everything has been out of pocket. But I know how huge this is going to be for the community. Thank you all so much! You can either buy the item outright or add any donation from five dollars and up via the Amazon gift card. Sadly, they won’t let you do any thing lower..

Winnie was officially accepted into the AeroDigestive Program in Ohio this week. In about three months, she will be seen by their team under general anesthesia for biopsies of her GI tract so that we can address her swelling and inflammation seen on her last scope.

After going through her paperwork from Birmingham, I'm seeing that this has been noted during her scopes but never brought up or looked into, which brings me to say: get that second opinion!

Update on Wynter 🤍

We’re back at our home away from home after today’s procedures at Cincinnati Children’s. Wynter did great and was such a little trooper through everything.

Today included:
• Bronchoscopy
• EUA of ears with ventilation tube insertion (ear tubes)
• Botox injections to the parotid Glands to help with secretions (We found during this the submandibular glands aren’t there)

During the procedures, the doctor noticed swelling of the esophagus lining, and this is pointing toward a possible additional disorder. Because of that, we’ll be adding a specialty GI team and planning a scope with them. He looked at it all while he was already there. He said it usually takes seven months to get in with them, but since they already have these videos and pictures and we are already established with all the other teams that will be there they will do a scope in 3 to 6 months.

Which Could be Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing irritation. (She has already been treated for over the years without any testing)

He thinks there’s a possibility that it is Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE): An allergic/autoimmune response where white blood cells (eosinophils) build up in the lining.

Next up:
📅 Thursday, January 22 – Wynter will have a CT scan, and she’ll be given medication to help her sleep for it.

We will also be back in 3–6 months for follow-up care as we continue putting all the pieces together.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been praying, checking in, and loving on our girl. We’re so grateful for her care team and the support surrounding our family 🤍

One step at a time.

We left today for Ohio, and Wynter has surgery tomorrow. This will be an exploratory surgery to help doctors determine exactly what surgeries she will need next. Along with her yearly Airway scopes, ear tubes, and Botox injections to her saliva glands.

On Thursday, Wynter will also be given medication to help her sleep for a CT scan.
We will get a 3d/4d view of her airways to further help there surgery decisions.

If anyone feels led to help support us with travel, lodging, and medical expenses, we would be incredibly grateful. Prayers are always appreciated just as much. ❄️
