Three years ago today my business was born, my LLC official. And I had no idea what was to follow.

I celebrated by spending the morning reflecting on how I’ve evolved personally and professionally.

Eighteen years in education. Five years abroad. Several leaps of faith into the unknown. And slowly, one decision at a time, I’ve stepped into teaching, coaching and leading in a new way.

I’m finally living a life I recognize myself in. Where I can serve and help others in a more meaningful way, without being bound by someone else’s rules.

Three years in and I am still only beginning to understand what this is becoming, but I’m grateful for all of it.

There are far too many people who have been a part of this journey to name, but you know who you are.

Thank you to all my teachers, coaches, mentors, to everyone I’ve learned alongside of, to my friends and family who have attended my classes, shared my posts, and encouraged me along the way. To every client I’ve worked with or who I’ve taught in a class, thank you for being a part of these last few years.

If you want to read more about this journey and the lessons I learned along the way, comment “Evolution” below and I’ll send you the link.

I’m getting excited for a weekend of learning & immersing myself in Reiki. I did my master level training last summer and this summer I am doing my Karuna master level training with MPH Wellness

The timing is perfect because it is just before my Reiki and restore beach session I’m leading on June 20th for the summer solstice at Assateague in MD.

And just in time for our Explore & Restore Retreat at Lake Powell on June 26th! We still have one room available. This is a coed retreat and it’s going to be so fun!

Seems like so many people I know have gone to antelope Canyon in the last few months and their pictures have me getting so excited! 🏜️

DM me for the links or they’re in my bio.

I felt like an imposter walking in. And I never felt so completely at ease in my own skin walking out.

18 months ago I almost talked myself out of going to Bali.

At the start of my yoga teacher training I knew I wanted to lead retreats.

I told myself I would figure it out later.

When I had more experience. More connections. More of something I could not quite name but was certain I did not yet have.

That is a nervous system pattern dressed up as logic.

Fear does not always show up as fear. Sometimes it shows up as not yet. Not quite. Not until.

So I started taking small actions. A local retreat. An invitation to assist at the next one. A retreat in Brazil to experience what I eventually wanted to create.

I talked to retreat leaders even when a quiet voice told me I was taking up their time.

I have been learning not to trust that voice. Slowly. One conversation at a time.

Then came an opportunity to teach at a retreat in Bali. I almost didn’t reach out. I was sure it was already filled, that I was not the right fit, that someone more experienced would be a better choice. Every one of those thoughts was the pattern. I reached out anyway and it was an immediate yes.

Another opportunity in Bali came up for the week before. I said yes to that too.

While in Bali I decided to reach out to Jessie Benson of about co-leading a retreat. Rather than sending a casual text, I filled out her official inquiry form.

That decision came from a different place than where my decisions used to come from.

And now, full circle, I am co-leading my first retreat with her at Lake Powell in a few weeks.

The dream did not wait for me to feel ready. It just kept showing up in the form of small opportunities I almost talked myself out of. The fear does not disappear, but relationship to it can change.

I am a somatic coach. I work with care-focused professionals who are ready to stop letting fear make their decisions and start moving toward what they actually want. This is the work inside Path to Freedom, my four month one to one coaching program.

If fear has been running the show and you’re tired of letting it, DM me.

I left my 18 year teaching career to stop running on empty. A year into my business, I was doing it again.

Running between yoga studios, freelancing for multiple wellness businesses, taking one on one client sessions, opening my calendar to 9am calls.

Trying to help everyone and meet everyone’s needs.

Exhausted. Frustrated. Scattered. Tense.

The same familiar pattern of over-giving, over-extending, and overriding what my body was telling me. Just with a new job title.

I had left teaching because I could not sustain it, and here I was recreating the same conditions with no boss to blame but myself.

The pattern does not care that you changed careers. It just finds a new set of people to over-give to and calls it purpose.

It was a slow noticing. The frustration every time I had to stop a creative flow to go teach a yoga class. The tension before 9am calls my nervous system clearly did not agree with.

The scattered feeling at the end of days when I had worked for too many people in too many directions.

The more I learned about my own nervous system, the more I understood that I could not teach what I was not living.

So I started making changes. Not all at once. Slowly, in the direction my body was pointing me.

I tracked my time, money, energy, and enjoyment.

And I remembered what had actually lit me up about being an educator.

It was the moment a student had a genuine breakthrough. The specific, sustained work of helping someone move toward a goal over time. That is what I wanted to bring into this work.

The work we do together builds on itself until the steadiness is no longer something you have to perform. It is just how you operate.

Last week I led a free workshop, The Restored Leader. If my story felt uncomfortably familiar, that recognition is worth paying attention to.

DM me and I’ll send you the replay link. Free to watch through June 3rd.

She felt “deeply seen, encouraged, and honestly a little challenged.”

That was after 90 minutes on Zoom with people she had never met.

Someone else described feeling more space between moments than she had felt in a long time.

Someone’s self-assessment numbers moved from the 5s to the 7s and 8s by the end of the practice.
On Zoom. In May.

This is what happened during The Restored Leader workshop last Wednesday.

We named three patterns that show up most often for people in service-oriented roles: educators, therapists, coaches, wellness practitioners, and anyone who has spent a significant part of their life being the steady one in the room.

The Functional Facade:

You show up prepared, composed, ready. And somewhere in the back of your mind you are hoping nobody looks too closely at what it is actually taking to hold it all together.

Hyper-Responsibility:

You notice everything. The shift in energy in the room. The colleague who does not seem like herself today. You are always ready. And your body has been waiting for a moment to set it all down.

Mind-Over-Body Override:

You know exactly what you need and still cannot reach it when things get full and the pressure is on. Your mind takes over and does what it has always done. Push through. Figure it out. Keep moving.

Then I guided the group through a somatic practice and visualization to feel where those patterns actually live in the body and what becomes available when they begin to shift.

That is where the numbers moved.

The replay is available through June 3rd.
It is free.

An opportunity to get a clearer understanding of your nervous system and the patterns that are showing up for you.

If any of this sounds like it might be for you, send me a DM and I will send you the link to watch the workshop & drop into the guided practice in the comfort of your own home.

90 minutes of time that is entirely yours.

The beach is calling. 🏖️

Reiki and Restore Beach Sessions are back at Assateague this summer, and the first one is tomorrow, May 15 at 10 AM.

75 minutes. Sand beneath you. Waves as your soundtrack. Reiki, breathwork, and meditation to help your nervous system rest.

DM me for the booking link.

More dates coming throughout the summer.

Link in bio if you want to get on the interest list and I’ll build sessions around your availability.

If you’re an educator, therapist, coach or practitioner… that person is probably you.

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that does not look like exhaustion from the outside.

It does not announce itself.
It does not look like burnout. It looks like capability.

You show up fully. You read the room.

You feel the shift in energy before anyone has spoken and adjust everything accordingly, without being asked, without anyone noticing you did it.

You leave meetings having tracked six conversations at once and managed the emotional temperature the entire time.

And then you go home.

And your body is still there. Still tracking. Still alert for whatever comes next.

Your nervous system runs continuously, in the background, under everything.

The scanning in the grocery store. The way you hold your breath in the moments that are supposed to feel peaceful. The jaw that never fully unclenches.

This is a sign that your nervous system is exceptionally good at a job it was never meant to do forever.

It’s like a Roomba that keeps bumping into walls long after the floors are clean. Nobody told it the job was done.

You became the person other people orient around without realizing they are doing it. Your body adapted to make that possible. And at some point, without anyone announcing it, staying ready became your baseline.

That is the pattern we are working with in The Restored Leader workshop on Wednesday.

Seeing the pattern clearly from the outside, and experiencing what it feels like when your body finally gets to put down what it has been carrying.

Wednesday, May 13 | 6:30-8:00pm EST | Free, live on Zoom

If you recognize yourself in this, come and spend 90 minutes with me.
