14-YEAR-OLD GIRL RECOVERING AFTER ALLEGED GOLF CLUB ATTACK NEAR GEORGIA BUS STOP — THREE ARRESTED

A 14-year-old Georgia girl is recovering after police say a dispute that began online escalated into a physical confrontation involving two teenage girls and their mother.

Kiera Harps was reportedly attacked near a Newnan bus stop, where her family says she was left unconscious after being struck during the confrontation. She is recovering from her injuries, including wounds that required staples.

According to police and Kiera’s family, the dispute involved students who rode the same school bus. Kiera’s older sister, Jasmine Osirio, said she went to the location hoping the disagreement could be resolved peacefully.

Instead, authorities allege the situation turned violent.

Cellphone footage reportedly shows one of the teenage suspects striking Kiera with a golf club. Police allege the girl’s mother, 36-year-old Curtisia Anya Heath, provided the club to her daughters during the confrontation.

Jasmine said she was also struck while attempting to protect her younger sister.

Newnan Police arrested Heath and her two daughters, ages 15 and 16. All three are facing aggravated assault charges.

The teenagers were taken to a regional youth detention facility, while Heath was booked into the Coweta County Jail.

Kiera’s mother, Syrite Harps, said the incident left her terrified for her daughter’s life and that she wants those responsible to face consequences.

The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the three suspects have not been proven in court.

A juror in the Lindsay Clancy case is expected to be questioned in court this morning after the jury foreperson reportedly identified the juror in a note sent to Judge Sullivan on Thursday.

According to attorney Kevin Reddington, the juror has now been identified and is expected to face inquiry during today’s proceedings.

Reddington believes the questioning will likely happen in open court rather than privately at sidebar, which could make for an especially significant moment in the proceedings.

The inquiry is expected to begin around 9 a.m.

TWO FRENCH BULLDOGS RESCUED AFTER FLORIDA COUPLE ACCUSED OF ABUSING THEM

Two French bulldogs are now in protective care after authorities say their owners were caught on camera mistreating them.

The case reportedly came to light when a neighbor, Annabel Morris, heard a disturbance involving the dogs and began recording. She also provided investigators with footage from her home security system.

Authorities say the recordings showed 57-year-old Charolette Dellinger and 57-year-old David Neely physically mistreating the animals.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office later arrested both individuals on animal cruelty charges. They were released on a combined $15,000 bond.

Santa Rosa County Animal Services took custody of the dogs. Photos released after their rescue showed the animals appearing distressed following what authorities described as a troubling ordeal.

Randy Lambert, chief of Santa Rosa County Animal Services, said the dogs will remain protected while the criminal case moves through the court system. Their future, including whether they can eventually be adopted, will depend on the legal process.

Chief Deputy Randy Tifft also urged people who become frustrated with their pets to walk away rather than harm them.

The investigation remains ongoing, and both suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

FOUR DAYS, TWO ARRESTS: MTSU CHEERLEADER FACES DOMESTIC-RELATED CHARGES

A freshman cheerleader at Middle Tennessee State University was arrested twice within four days, according to police records, with the second arrest involving an alleged violation of a protective order.

Kailyn Hasty was first taken into custody Thursday after police responded to an alleged domestic incident at a Murfreesboro apartment complex. Authorities listed her as the primary aggressor in the case, although police have not publicly released details about what allegedly happened or identified the other person involved.

She was released from custody following that arrest.

Then, shortly before midnight Monday, police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Hasty was reportedly sitting in the passenger seat, and officers determined that the driver had a protective order against her.

She was arrested again, this time for allegedly violating the order, and was later released.

Hasty graduated from Tullahoma High School earlier this year and had recently joined the MTSU cheer program. The university said she was removed from the cheer squad following the first arrest but remains enrolled as a student.

MTSU Spirit leadership said violence is not tolerated and that Hasty's alleged actions do not represent the university or its spirit program.

The cases remain pending, and Hasty is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

A PARKING-SPACE DISPUTE ENDED WITH A VETERAN DEAD — PROSECUTORS SAY FLORIDA’S SELF-DEFENSE LAW PREVENTS CHARGES

A dispute over a parking space outside a Walmart ended with a 62-year-old Army veteran losing his life. The woman who fired the shot will not face criminal charges, prosecutors say, because she is protected by Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.

Bart DiGuglielmo, a retired Army staff sergeant and trauma nurse, was killed June 30 outside the Walmart in North Lauderdale.

According to the information provided, Melissa Payne remained at the scene and told investigators she acted in self-defense.

Video reviewed by authorities reportedly captured the confrontation over the parking space before a single shot was fired. DiGuglielmo was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Broward County prosecutors reviewed the circumstances and determined that Florida law grants Payne immunity from prosecution under the state’s self-defense provisions.

That means no criminal charges will be filed against her in connection with DiGuglielmo’s death.

One argument over a parking space. One person dead. And now, no criminal case.

A Tennessee teacher is facing an assault charge after authorities say a 4-year-old student was physically restrained and had a biscuit forced into his mouth inside a classroom.

Debra Robertson, who worked in the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District, is accused of holding the child around the neck and head area before forcing the food into his mouth on August 28, according to an arrest affidavit.

Investigators say the child was left visibly upset and suffered a busted lip following the incident.

A judicial commissioner determined there was probable cause on September 1, leading to an arrest warrant. Robertson was later booked and released on a $2,500 bond. She has not entered a plea, and she remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The school district says Robertson was suspended without pay on the day of the alleged incident and remains suspended while the case moves through the courts.

The boy’s mother, Anna Townsend, said the situation has been difficult for the family but that they are trying to remain strong for their son.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office handled the arrest. No further court dates have been publicly announced.

What happened inside a Memphis home on August 30 quickly became a homicide investigation after a 23-year-old woman was found fatally shot.

Police say Rontavious Dillard was the person who called 911, telling dispatchers that his girlfriend, Nyla Howell, had been shot.

When officers and paramedics arrived, Howell was found inside the residence and taken to St. Francis-Park Hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

But according to investigators, Dillard's explanation of what happened changed several times.

He initially told police he had been in another room when he heard a noise. He said he then went to the front room and discovered Howell had been shot.

During questioning, police say he gave a different version, claiming Howell had been handling a handgun and that it discharged while he was trying to take it from her.

He later offered a third account.

Investigators say Dillard told them he and Howell had been competing to see who could raise a gun faster. According to that statement, Howell picked up one firearm while Dillard grabbed another from a box in the attic.

Police say Dillard admitted afterward that he placed one of the guns between the backyard fence and put the other back inside the attic.

Investigators also reported finding blood evidence inside the home, along with the second firearm and a handgun with its serial number removed.

That discovery became another major part of the investigation because Dillard allegedly told officers he hid the weapons because he is a convicted felon.

Police later confirmed that Dillard had previously pleaded guilty to theft of property between $2,500 and $10,000 in October 2025.

At this time, authorities have not announced a bond for him.

The investigation into Howell's death remains ongoing as detectives work to determine exactly what happened inside the home.

A little girl who should have been protected inside a home ended up at a hospital where doctors could no longer save her. Now, two people connected to the case have been sentenced, while others are still facing prosecution.

Christina Pena-Cantor, 49, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges connected to the abuse and abandonment of the 3-year-old.

James Welch, 51, was also sentenced after entering a no-contest plea to charges including child abuse and failing to report suspected abuse. He received 18 months.

The child had been staying at Welch's Albuquerque apartment with her mother, her siblings, Pena-Cantor and Pena-Cantor's son, Austin Bing.

According to court records, the child was subjected to repeated mistreatment while staying there. Investigators later found signs that raised serious concerns about what she had been experiencing before her death.

On January 13, 2024, the girl's mother took her to University of New Mexico Hospital, wrapped in a blanket, claiming the child had become ill during a cross-country trip.

Doctors determined that the little girl had already died.

Investigators later learned that the circumstances surrounding her death were very different from the explanation initially given, according to court documents.

The girl's mother, Kerri Anne Santos, remains charged with reckless child abuse resulting in death, kidnapping and tampering with evidence.

Bing, Pena-Cantor's son, pleaded guilty in July to reckless child abuse resulting in death and tampering with evidence. He has not yet been sentenced.

The girl's two surviving siblings were taken into state custody.

The case has also raised questions about whether warning signs had been missed. Massachusetts authorities had previously documented domestic violence concerns involving the family, according to the report.

Now, Pena-Cantor will spend 12 years behind bars, while Welch has received an 18-month sentence.

The little girl's death remains the central tragedy behind a case that has left authorities examining how a vulnerable child was treated while surrounded by adults who were supposed to protect her.

What began with parents raising concerns about a home daycare has turned into a much larger investigation, with police now asking whether more children may have been harmed.

Karen Rezendes, 51, who ran Oh Nana’s Daycare from her Kingston home, has been arrested following allegations involving several children who attended the daycare.

Investigators say the children were mostly between 1 and 4 years old. The allegations include children being physically mistreated and one child allegedly being confined inside part of the home.

The case reportedly came to police attention in July after Rezendes’ estranged husband contacted parents and warned them about what he believed was happening at the daycare.

Parents then went to police.

What followed was a weeks-long investigation involving interviews with witnesses and a review of video footage. Detectives later searched Rezendes’ home and said they found evidence that supported information provided during the investigation.

When police returned with an arrest warrant, investigators believe Rezendes watched them through her security cameras and stayed away from the house.

She eventually turned herself in.

Rezendes was arraigned and entered a not-guilty plea through her attorney. She was being held on bail and was scheduled for another court appearance on September 4.

But there may be more to the story.

Neighbors have described previous incidents involving Rezendes that they say had already caused concern in the neighborhood. One neighbor said it would be dishonest to claim the allegations came as a complete surprise.

The daycare has since lost its license following investigations by Massachusetts child welfare and early education authorities.

Now police are making a direct appeal to former daycare families.

They want parents to come forward if their children ever reported something unusual about the daycare or returned home with injuries that were dismissed as accidents.

Investigators say some of the children's accounts have already been supported by other evidence, and they believe there could be additional victims.

The investigation is still underway.
