Dear Mommy,
Today makes 10 years since you left this earth.
10 years. That still doesn’t even sound real.
So much has changed since the last time I saw your face, heard your voice, or got to call you and tell you what was going on in my life. There have been so many moments over these years when I wished I could just pick up the phone and say, “Mommy…”
But one thing these 10 years have taught me is that love doesn’t end when someone dies. I still carry you with me. In the things you taught me. In the parts of me that remind me of you. In the stories I tell. In the things I kept. And even in the woman I’ve become.
I used to think moving forward meant somehow leaving you behind. Now I know better. I get to keep living and keep loving you. I get to make new memories while still holding tightly to the ones we had.
And somehow, God has taken one of the deepest pains of my life and allowed me to use it to sit beside other grieving hearts. I never would have chosen this road, but I’m grateful that my love for you continues to have purpose.
I miss you, Mommy. I love you. And after 10 years, I’m still learning all the ways your love lives on in me.
Until I see you again. 🤎
Love always,
your daughter, Li-li 🦋
