Let Them

Two powerful words that if we lean into a growth mindset we can leverage to support strong mental well-being.

Your mindset will dictate what this means to you. What does it need to be for your right now?

Let them tell you to _____ off and accept it to move forward.
Let them go.
Let them love you!
Let them be who they are.

Lots of ways to interpret these two words. Keep working on them until these words give you the power you need to be stronger!

Just like our physical health our mental health can ebb and flow. When you feel that your is dipping, here is a tool from our training to help you reboot it!

Step 1 - Simply ask yourself the question, what are the triggers that are telling me that my mental health is low?

Steps 2 and 3 - Identify the actions to take or actions to stop doing to help get back on track with your mental health.

Keep the responses simple, 1-2 bullets for each. The actions don't need to be big or complex.

Then create your reboot statement, a simple 1 sentence statement on what you are going to do to reboot your mental health.

Finally, write out the statement and post it where you see it and say it every day for 21 -30 days.

When it comes to meetings....less is more!

One of the simplest things that leaders can do to support balance and mitigate burnout is to reduce time spent in meetings, yet we are a culture of back-to-backs..so why??

Working with clients we've discussed innovative ways to shift the meeting mindset culture. Here are just a few best practices our clients have shared....

✳️Establishing meeting policies/standards

✳️No meeting day(s) of the week

✳️Clear meeting structures, roles/responsibilities, set durations

What are some effective ways your teams have minimized the time in meetings? Share in comments

Enjoyed being a part of such a “hot topic” discussion around the evolving workplace culture at yesterday’s NDCC middle market executive forum.

We started with reality …..

78% of executives said that culture is top 5 things to make a company valuable but 84% said they need to improve their work culture

Employees say they want work that is purposeful, and feel that they belong to their work community.

1 in 5 people feel highly connected to their organization and the people they work for and with. (Accenture)

Adults reporting symptoms of anxiety or depression were 11% in January 2019 to 41% in January 2021.

We ended with proof-of-concept actions from Kris, Peter, and Valerie, here are just a few…..

Creating an environment of “check-ins” what is working, what isn’t, what are your biggest obstacles, so you are getting to know your employees as individuals, the benefit in this, equips leaders to navigate when performance declines, is it a life event / adversity causing situational anxiety or depression and the guidance to the right support rectifies this in a less costly manner or is it a performance management issue that you need to move on and quickly.

There is great power in leadership managing out the “arsonists” in the workplace versus what we commonly see take place which is moving them around, putting them on “special projects” etc . Reality is your employees know what is going on and as a result, you are giving permission for your workforce to operate with disruptive behaviors, lack of production, or other negative actions OR if they no longer trust the leaders and the organization and see that their best interest is not in play.

Loved our audience and the questions and conversations during and after the event were just as rich!
