A while ago my friend Wendee and I went in another crow hunt in Portland, Oregon.

Inspired by the book Wildwood by Colin Meloy, 30 artists were given a 5 foot crow and 30 days to create. Finding a crow feels like finding a friend!

The movie Wildwood will be out October 23 and I can’t wait!

In the meantime, we have just 4 more crows to go….

It’s September!!

I love fall with cooler mornings and nights. Most days I’m very ready to feel cozy.

I’m looking forward to the much needed predicted rain this week. It’s been over a month and we need it. Hopefully it will hamper wildfires.

September is also the month I’m taking a big trip! Exciting things ahead ✈️🌎🤍

Years ago we had to cut down a beautiful cherry tree. Me being me I asked my husband to cut slices to save.

Finding the box of cherry slices inspired a bit of nature play. This is the first set of nature slices…ornaments? Gift tags? A sweet love note?

This whimsical dahlia is called Venus. 🧡

Last year she gave me a couple blooms, this year so many more. Isn’t this amazing?!

It looks like a work of origami art to me, and I’m amazed with each bloom.

I will say that it doesn’t last long in a vase, but Oh! So special!!

Have you heard of the Wildwood art crows that are in Portland, Oregon?

My friend and I spent some time following the wildwood crow map to discover nearly half of them. It was SOOO much fun!!

Inspired by the book Wildwood (by Colin Melody), which is a fantasy set in Portland, 30 artists have each painted a huge crow and they are just amazing!

In November the crows will be auctioned to benefit Oregon Health and Sciences.

The upcoming Wildwood movie, made with stop motion by the same creators as Coraline, will be out October 23. I’m loving the book and can’t wait for the movie!

It was World Honeybee Day yesterday, and I’m still celebrating 💛

Here are some fun facts about honeybees…

🐝 Bees have 5 eyes! Two are the large compound eyes we can see. 3 smaller ocelli eyes are in between are can detect the transition from light to dark- useful on detecting the horizon

🐝 A bee’s sense of smell is 50x more powerful than a dog’s

🐝 Bees are the only insect that produces food consumed by humans

🐝 Honey is antibacterial, antibacterial, and anti- inflammatory

🐝 Bees pollinate more than 150 fruit, grain, and veggie crops in the US
