World Food Program USA Allocates $333,000 in Emergency Response Funds from Herbalife Nutrition’s Nutrition for Zero Hunger Initiative to Assist Coronavirus Pandemic Efforts
Los Angeles—April 2, 2020— Premier global nutrition company, Herbalife Nutrition (NYSE: HLF), and the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation, today announced that $333,000 of the $1 million pledged to World Food Program USA’s Emergency Response Fund will aid Coronavirus pandemic relief efforts. These funds, gifted through the Company’s Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative, will support United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) efforts in responding to supply chain and other logistics issues related to the virus.
“Our contribution to World Food Program USA’s Emergency Relief Fund is a testament to the Company’s continued commitment to ending hunger worldwide,” said Alan Hoffman, executive vice president, Global Affairs, Herbalife Nutrition. “Through Nutrition for Zero Hunger, we are providing much needed funds to help WFP respond in the best and most effective way possible to conquer the virus.”
WFP works on the frontlines, providing food and other resources to the most vulnerable people, who are often ill-equipped to respond to the pandemic. The agency is actively ramping up their activities to continue meeting these needs, including prepositioning food near communities that are most at-risk.
“Because of the support of partners like Herbalife Nutrition, WFP is in a strong position to tackle this virus, but there’s still much more to be done,” said Barron Segar, President and CEO of World Food Program USA. “The outbreak has been devastating to families worldwide and requires an unprecedented response from business partners to humanitarian and government agencies.”
