SUMMER WORKSHOP SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT: Rebecca Tilden, MCN, RD, LD, CEDS;
Part 3 of 3 speakers for “Navigating the Maze: Treating ARFID & Co Occurring Diagnoses”

Since the addition of Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) diagnosis in the DSMV clinicians are seeing more and more clients presenting in their office or treatment center with this unique diagnosis. Many may feel ill-equipped to treat and support this population, which becomes more challenging when other co-occurring diagnoses increase the complexity of the course of treatment. In this presentation we will specifically discuss clients struggling with ARFID and trauma, other eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, neurodivergence, and PANDAS/PANS. We will identify current research, interventions, application and skill building in order to best equip clinicians to treat ARFID with co-occurring diagnoses. We will also identify specific considerations for adolescents versus adults and each level of care. At the conclusion of this presentation clinicians will feel more confident and prepared to navigate supporting clients struggling with ARFID and co-occurring diagnosis.

SUMMER WORKSHOP SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT: Angela Harris, LCSW, CEDS, EMDR CIT

Join Angela Harris in the exploration of eating disorder recovery when two or more identities share a body. This presentation dives into the overlap of patients with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), other dissociative disorders, and eating disorders.

Individuals with eating disorders tend to experience an array of disconnection from the mind and body, some to the extent of experiencing multiple dissociative identities (also known as personality states, parts, or alters). This psychological phenomenon is referred to as Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

This presentation explores the interplay between dissociative identities, eating disorders, the mind-body connection, and trauma. Learn about the etiology of DID, symptoms of dissociation, differential diagnosis between dissociative symptoms and DID, trauma informed approaches, parts work strategies, and interventions for eating disorder recovery in DID patients.
