This week, I’m joined by Lakisha Candies, a wife, mother, entrepreneur, speaker, author, and the co-owner of Strong Arms Affordable Moving in St. Louis, Missouri.
What I love about Lakisha’s story is that she did not wait until everything was perfect to begin.
She and her husband started their moving business because they wanted to create income beyond the traditional 9-to-5. She brought her managerial experience, he brought his moving background, and together they built something that continues to serve their community.
But Lakisha is so much more than one title.
She’s also passionate about health and wellness, creating spaces for women, speaking at women’s events, and helping women embrace a softer, more intentional way of living. She reminds us that we do not have to stay in one box just because people first knew us for one thing.
In this conversation, Lakisha shares one of the simplest but most powerful reminders:
Start now. Start scared. Start small. Just start.
We also talk about releasing the need for permission, stepping into rooms without waiting for an invitation, redefining strength, receiving support, and becoming the woman you are called to be right now.
Because as Lakisha says, everybody is somebody. You do not need someone else to validate your next step before you take it.
