Grief and illness often carry the same weight 🧱 and have the same impact on a person’s mental, physical and emotional health.

The same gut punching, knee buckling, heart wrenching feelings I had when I got the call that I had a brain tumor, are the same exact feelings I felt when I got the call that my beloved Nana received her heavenly wings. The only difference is I know & understand Why, it just still hurts terribly. 💔

So much of me is made up of beautiful remnants of her passed down genetically 🧬 and culturally 🤎. I come from a long lineage of strong, smart, funny, loving, sassy, beautiful BElievers! 🥰🙌🏾🙏🏾

92yrs young, my last living grandparent, I’m so GRAYtful for the time God blessed me & my family to share with her. Hug them 🤗 , call them 📱, visit them 🚙 , take pictures 📸 and love ❤️ them for the gems 💎 that they are!

As a natural & professional speaker, I absolutely stand behind the fact that things such as tone, delivery, context, etc affect communication.

But as a and advocate, I can also attest that NONE of those things matter when it comes to you sharing your story! It’s not about perfection, it’s about purpose!!
EVERY story matters and someone’s breakthrough is on the other side of YOURS!

My Big Sis and fellow survivor Leslie shared her story with me privately 11yrs ago after receiving my diagnosis and changed my life. And on this day, she shared it publicly at a community event for the first time and changed someone else’s life.

On this last day of May, I encourage anyone impacted by brain tumors in ANY way to ! It’s not too soon and it’s never too late!

Before my table was even set up, God was at work…

My May thus far has been abnormally overwhelming, trying to navigate some amazing highs 😃 like my daughter graduating from college, to some unexpected lows with multiple friends & family passing days apart. 😔

I don’t rebound from stressful times as quickly and completely as I did pre-brain tumor, and that feeling of imbalance was at an all time high. 😣 Flustered, I made my way to the 2nd Street Market as scheduled and hoped for the best…then God handled the rest.

🩶 From a beautiful family & lady whose best friend is just days into her brain tumor diagnosis & had no idea how to help her… 😕

🩶 To a curious, kindhearted little boy who wanted to know why I was there 🧒🏻💙

🩶 To a fellow WSU Raider 💚💛, who’s a Psychiatry student & always looking for ways to connect and expand the conversation around our beautiful minds 🗣️ 🧠

🩶 To a sweet lady who lost an Uncle & friend to brain cancer and still carries the grief from it 💔

I was worried about my presentation 👀 He was focused on his promise. Just another reminder that if we just show up, He will show out 🙌🏾🙌🏾

To my brain tumor battling Mamas and steadfast survivors, I’m pretty sure you didn’t think there would be anything harder than Motherhood, until you received your diagnosis.

And to those who lost their mother to a brain tumor, at a point in your life when you needed her most… to all of you I see you, I honor you, I pray for you, I am You!

And to everyone who helps make this journey a little easier on us in anyway that you can, we Thank You!

Although I was unable to attend this week, the message, mission and mindset is still the same!

For the past 7yrs, I’ve served as a delegate for the National Brain Tumor Society, proudly representing Ohio and the brain tumor community at large. As a I view advocacy the same as voting 🗳️ - it is a PRIVILEGE, a Right and my responsibility!
