Truth Be Told Tuesday 🚨💙
Therapy services for autistic children are not a luxury—they are often a necessity. 🌈♾️
Speech therapy, occupational therapy, ABA therapy, physical therapy, behavioral support… these services can play a major role in helping children communicate, regulate, learn, and thrive.
But truth be told, many autism families are one insurance denial, funding cut, or policy change away from losing access to critical care.
When my son was younger, I went into over $40,000 of debt trying to afford therapies because of limited insurance coverage. 💔
And unfortunately, this is not uncommon within the autism community.
Many parents are:
💸 Paying out of pocket for services
📄 Fighting insurance approvals and denials
⏳ Sitting on waitlists for months or years
🚫 Losing access when funding or Medicaid programs change
Recently, Georgia budget vetoes impacted disability and Medicaid-related support programs, raising concerns for families who already struggle to access autism and developmental services. 🚨
The reality is:
when support is delayed or removed, children can lose opportunities for early intervention and families are left carrying emotional, physical, and financial burdens alone.
This conversation is bigger than autism awareness.
It’s about:
✨ Access to care
✨ Affordable therapy services
✨ Disability support funding
✨ Insurance coverage
✨ Early intervention for autistic children
✨ Protecting vulnerable families
No parent should have to choose between debt and getting their child the support they need. 💙❤️♾️
If you’re an autism parent or caregiver navigating therapies, insurance battles, or financial stress—you are not alone. 🌈
