These are just SOME of the ways a pelvic floor therapy session can look like that is not internal work:

- Talking!! Getting a narrative review of all possible symptoms, medical history, and your top concerns + goals

- Education- on the pelvic floor, how the body functions, pelvic health habits, and more!

- Training in proper engagement of the core and breathing mechanics so that your body is working for you and not against you

- Assessment and training in how you engage in exercise or daily activity to prevent or reduce symptoms

- Strengthening with exercise adaptation woven into activities you already do every day

- Somatic movement and nervous system training to give you tools for self regulation (especially BEFORE Internal treatment)

- Body work to bring in blood flow, lengthen tight muscle patterns, communicate safety into the body, and assist with scar tissue management

- Visceral mobilization - a type of manual treatment that targets internal organs and surrounding fascia/tissue

- Cupping and other soft tissue techniques to increase blood flow and release tight muscles

- Stretches and movement for pelvic floor lengthening layered with breath training for your specific pelvic needs

- Guided pelvic floor meditation and training in restorative positions to help with pelvic floor release and/or release pelvic pressure

Check out our blog or FAQ page to see more options of that a pelvic floor therapy session could look like!

I have watched the tension MELT off of patients when I let them know we won’t do an internal exam on that first pelvic floor evaluation session.

That says something in itself.

Your body’s consent to the process is top priority on any direct pelvic floor work.

Again, everyone is different and your session will look unique to your needs!
