Not every piece of advice is meant for me and here's why ⤵️

We all get bombarded with advice these days:

"Be consistent."

"Consider your options carefully."

"Get out of your house once in a while..."

Okay, maybe that last one is valid for the majority of people (and especially for me considering I work at home and spend a lot of time alone), but even so, none of those are universally applicable.

Maybe you find that your best opportunities come from decisions that others would call impulsive. Or you end up hating a job that requires that same thing day in and day out (or you absolutely love it!).

The point is, there is no one way (or 5 or 10 or 500) to do things, so not all advice offered is going to be best for you. You have to be able to sort through the information you receive and pick out what's actually meant for you.

You absolutely have the ability to do that...you just might need a little boost in remembering how to trust that part of yourself.

Outsourcing your inner knowing becomes the default when you’ve been misunderstood your whole life.

I can’t even say how long it took me to relearn how to trust myself.

The messaging I received and internalized as a child was that I couldn’t just be myself. I had to shrink and hide and constantly double check every action. I couldn’t make a move without checking with everyone I trusted first because every time I made a split-second decision (as I’m meant to), I was reprimanded and I didn’t have the confidence as a child to stand firm.

Now, I understand that the people around me were trying to help me, but it only ever felt stifling.

It’s been a long road of rediscovery and learning how to hold my own boundaries, to say upfront that the questions I ask aren’t because I’m trying to argue or the explanations I offer aren’t a way to avoid accountability, but are necessary for me to expand my own understanding to ensure I’m providing the needed outcome.

I rarely check with anyone about a decision that I know is right for me, except when it affects someone else directly because that’s just polite…most of the time. I’m getting better about second guessing my first instinct. I embrace that my learning process is messy, but by the time I’ve found the right answer, I’ve also figured out how to break and fix a million other things.

I promise that you have the answers you need. You just have to remember how to tune in and trust.

If you'd like to learn more about how I can help you rediscover that trust, DM TRUST and we can chat about what you need.

For years I thought I needed to become a better version of myself.

More organized.

More productive.

Less sensitive.

Less emotional.

Less me.

Now I think healing is much simpler.

It’s remembering who you were before everyone else’s expectations became louder than your own inner knowing.

What if there was never anything wrong with you?

I think this is what so many people are actually craving.

Not another thing to fix about themselves.

Not another strategy.

Not another way to become better.

Just space to hear themselves again.

The most meaningful part of my work is watching people realize they don’t have to force themselves into systems that don’t fit.

They don’t have to earn rest.

They don’t have to carry everyone else’s expectations.

They get to choose themselves.

Over and over again.

What would change if you trusted yourself more?

What parts of yourself did you learn to hide growing up?

I'm sure it's a familiar story for many of us ...

Family doesn't understand you, so you shrink and change and retract into a shape that they find acceptable, but it's really slowly suffocating all the hopes and dreams you had for yourself.

That's what happened to me...or it's what I tried to do, but my true nature kept shining through. There was something in me that never let that conditioning take hold.

Thank f**k for that.

Because now that I have permission to be myself (however silly it might feel to have some esoteric chart give permission), most of the self-doubt and anxiety and fear have faded away. When I just let myself be, I'm the most chill person on Earth.

Now, most of the time, our families weren't trying to hurt us. They wanted the best for us, but also carried the weight and expectations of their own upbringing without doing the hard work of examining it and considering if it was applicable.

It still caused damage.

The goal of my work is to remodel that damage, to restore the foundations and let the original flourishes shine (I don't know why this took a turn into architecture, but I'll go with it).

You're not broken. You just slapped 10 layers of white paint and carpet over your original floors and walls to make yourself "marketable."

It's time to pull up that carpet and strip off the paint to find the incredible hardwood floors and original molding beneath.

You're still you.

Let's make it happen!

Send a DM if you're ready to rediscover your own original features!

I have 1 spot left in Friction to Frequency at the current price (it's going up soon), so take advantage of it while you can! Link to book in my bio.

Welp, I guess I have to do another one...

Have you ever felt like who you naturally are wasn’t enough?

Coming home has me thinking a lot about identity.

I spent most of my childhood hearing things like:

“You have so much potential.”

“You can do better.”

The hard part was that I was already doing the best I could.

I was a kid bouncing between two divorced households with completely different cultures and expectations. I learned very quickly how to shape myself to fit into whatever environment I was in.

Who I was naturally never seemed to be quite right.

My brain worked differently. I was interested in fantasy books instead of schoolwork. I wanted to understand people and stories and possibilities more than memorizing information that didn’t feel meaningful to me.

For a long time, I thought something was wrong with me.

I spent years trying to become someone easier to understand. Easier to accept. Easier to love.

The work I do now has never been about becoming someone new.

Human Design gave me language for the ways I naturally move through the world.

Reiki helped me reconnect with a body I’d spent years trying to override.

Tarot helped me trust the parts of myself I’d learned to ignore.

None of it changed who I was.

It helped me remember who I had always been underneath everyone else’s expectations.

This week has reminded me how many people are walking around believing they’re too much, not enough, too sensitive, too emotional, too different.

Maybe the problem was never who you are.

Maybe you’ve just spent your life trying to survive environments that didn’t know what to do with someone like you.

And maybe you don’t need fixing.

Maybe you need permission to come home to yourself. ❤️

A few years ago, this trip would have wrecked me.

Not because of the funeral.

Because of everything around it.

The family dynamics.

The expectations.

The old wounds.

The feeling that I needed to hold everyone together, to connect with all the disparate aspects of my life still in my hometown.

This week I noticed those patterns trying to pull me back in.

But I also noticed something else.

I trust myself now.

Not perfectly.

Not all the time.

But enough.

Enough to step away when I need to.

Enough to say no.

Enough to let someone be upset without rushing in to fix it.

Enough to remember that their story belongs to them and mine belongs to me.

That is what this work has given me.

Not a different life.

A different relationship with myself.

And that changes everything.

If you’ve been feeling disconnected from yourself lately, this is exactly the kind of work we do together.

People think boundaries happen in one big brave conversation.

Most of mine happen internally.

A comment lands.

A familiar dynamic starts.

Someone hands me a problem.

And I quietly decide whether I’m picking it up.

That’s what self-trust looks like for me.

Not perfection.

Choice.

Again and again.

Going home can be great...or it can be an endurance test of all the healing you've done 👇

I'm back in my hometown for a family funeral and it's been a really unique pressure test for all the work I've done to break the patterns I've learned while growing up here.

I can confirm...this s**t works.

Now, I'm by no means perfect or completely immune to my family hijinks, but I am much MUCH better at recognizing the boundaries between myself and others, and noticing when those old patterns I hate are rearing their ugly heads.

I can even halt the progression, take a few breaths (maybe mutter my snarky comments where they can't hear just to get them out), and reenter an interaction centered in myself and who I actually want to be.

Human Design and Reiki both have given be invaluable understanding for how each of us is meant to operate, how energy flows and tools to face the difficult moments from a place grounded in stability and compassion.

So, tell me...where do you find yourself slipping into old patterns?
