I am becoming softer but I’m known for my fight. May this era be the very one that sets me apart from everything I ever know.

Suffering is no more.

I’m proud to be the woman who turned survival into beauty without lying about the cost. It cost me everything.

I hold my head high. I speak up. I know myself. Survivorhood is building a spine regardless of the circumstances then walking around with it…

The first book I ever read on my own as a young girl was Charlotte’s Web. It made me cry. The library was my favorite spaces and the only time it was safe to roam on my own.

I think about how words are portals. Buildings too. The way you can step from the halls into the music room and feel a different movement. The way listening, writing, reading demand us to transcend the intellect to access the imagination and embody the abstract. To know more than what we are.

Those meant to be there appeared. One by one, some all at once. Michaela and I met yet again and it felt like talking with one of my good homegirls. Mom assisted in all the printing and Kwame made sure we had refreshments and everything was symmetrical.

As the evening progressed, I read 5 select poems from the collection. In between each reading, I played a specific sound meant to evoke the transitions that take place in the book in real time.

Justine Castle documented it all. This is the evening though her gifted eyes.

My deep desire is that this is only the beginning. To more writing, more performing, more trying something new, more gathering, more preserving, more.

With immense gratitude,
adria

We begin Sunday. School of Radical Healing | Trauma-Informed

The Fall cohort of the School of Radical Healing starts September 27th, and there are three spots left.

This room is for the people who understand healing but struggle to embody it. Who are tired of doing this alone. Who want a real practice and a real community, not another quick fix.

Twelve weeks. Sundays, 11 am ET. Sliding scale and payment plans, because there’s more than one way in.

Enrollment closes Friday at noon. If it’s calling you, don’t wait–link in bio, or DM me and let’s talk.✨

Today I get to talk about something I care deeply about: how we sustain ourselves inside the work.

I’m presenting Managing the Hustle at the PRSA East Central District Conference here in Detroit. A conversation about nervous system regulation, burnout, pressure, and the small practices that help us come back to ourselves.

Because the hustle may not be going anywhere. The deadlines, expectations, emails, changes, crises, and constant need to respond are real.

But resilience cannot only mean becoming better at enduring more.

Sometimes the practice is noticing sooner. Breathing before responding. Feeling your feet. Recognizing the signal before you hit the wall. Learning how to return.

Our regulated nervous systems are underneath everything we create, lead, communicate, and carry.

I’m grateful to get to bring this work into rooms like this. 🤎
