For Women's History Month, I'm reflecting on how our heroes sustained themselves during hard times. I'll be highlighting women who carried immense responsibility while navigating systemic oppression and the practices that kept them steady.

Rosa Parks sparked the resistance of the Montgomery Bus Boycott and changed the course of the Civil Rights Movement. That moment did not happen in isolation. She spent years organizing, thinking deeply about injustice, and preparing herself spiritually and mentally for what was to come.

As a way to heal, Rosa practiced yoga for about 30 years. She understood that to keep fighting, we first have to take care of ourselves.

Journal Prompt:
What does it mean to tend to yourself while continuing to show up for others?

For Women’s History Month, I’m reflecting on how our heroes sustained themselves during hard times.

I’ll be highlighting women who carried immense responsibility while navigating systemic oppression and the practices that kept them steady.

It felt fitting to begin with Audre Lorde. She was a Black feminist, le***an, poet, mother, and warrior. She navigated racism, sexism, and homophobia while also battling cancer.

In the midst of all of it, she spoke about self-care as self-preservation and as resistance.

Journal Prompt:
What does self-preservation look like for you right now?

When life feels noisy, journaling offers a place to slow down and listen. It helps reduce mental clutter, deepen self awareness and create space for intention.

At Kindred Soil, we see reflection as a form of self care, one that supports clarity, growth, and connection to self. You don’t need the right words. You just need a place to begin.

Save this for later. Share with someone who could use a moment of grounding.

Of course I had to hop on the journal ecosystem trend!

Slide 1: Manifestation journal when I am calling in new experiences

Slide 2: Kindred Soil brain dumps and to-do lists

Slide 3: I travel a lot for my 9-5 so this allows me to get at least 5 minutes of journaling when time is limited. It also has a lot of somatic practices, which tugs on my social work heart strings

Slide 4: Captures all of my personal travel experiences. My Kenya trip is one of my favorite solo trips to date so it makes this journal a little more special

Slide 5: My nightstand journal that I use the most consistently
