Friends and family,
As of now nothing is set in stone, but we have a tentative plan I want to update with. Our trips to Houston involved a full work up with scans and seeing several doctors. After everyone got together and discussed me, my Houston oncologist thinks I am a great candidate for a clinical trial there. The trial is on a drug/pill similar to what I take now, but a newer generation, and hopefully better. Her words were the drug is showing “superior” to standard of care, which is what was previously recommended to me. Absolutely no disregard to my local doc, they can only offer what they have access to. With that being said, I will be returning to Houston soon (unknown when exactly), to begin the screening/baseline testing for the trial to confirm I can proceed.
I feel really blessed and grateful that I was able to consult with MD Anderson. I wouldn’t wish for anyone to have to go go there, but their facility is amazing. Their imaging machines are top tier. The physicians all spent at least 30 minutes in the room with us. I looked all of my doctors in the eye and said “I know my diagnosis. I know my prognosis. But I don’t care. I want the best care you can give me. I have a kingdom to serve, a family to build, and a life to live, and I am gonna do that”. They all said “yeah, you do”. I am so grateful to be able to seek care in a place where hope felt so alive. We have been in this space before, facing the unknown, getting a treatment, and He sustained us and it worked. I believe He will again. Thank you all for the prayers and please keep them coming. God is still good. 💗🫁
