Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy NAION

Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy NAION There is no national organization or facility dedicated to research this condition. The challenge before us is this: Will you help?

This page maintained by the NAAION Foundation (in formation) is dedicated to organizing efforts to fight the devastating effects of Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION) by raising public awareness of optic nerve stroke. Depending on the source of information quoted, there are approximately 2 per 100,000 to 10 per 100,000 newly diagnosed NAION (non-arteritic anterior is

chemic optic neuropathy) patients in the USA every year (Optic Nerve Stroke or Eye Stroke). As a result, neuro-ophtalmologists across the country cannot offer any answers to basic questions that people afflicted with this disease may have. There is no drug development, no protocol to prevent occurrences or recurrences and no surgery that can be performed to reverse the condition. This leaves persons afflicted with little hope and no place to go for support. This page has been created in the desire that putting enough talented people in touch with each other who have an interest in promoting education/research about AAION and NAAION and want to work to build an organization that will raise funds and promote research will result in developing treatments, prevention and improve the lives of thousands of individuals afflicted with NAION/AAION worldwide. We also have a closed support group of NAAION patients and family at https://www.facebook.com/groups/naaion/

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agriculture detection dog named Bruno helped officers intercept nearly 29 kilograms of prohibited food products in luggage arriving from Burundi.

According to CBP officials, the AK 9 canine alerted officers to a traveler’s baggage during inspection, leading agents to discover plantains, goat meat, and limes packed inside. The items were seized because certain fresh produce and animal products are restricted or banned from entering the United States due to the risk of carrying pests or diseases.

Authorities say products like raw meat, fresh fruits, and vegetables can introduce invasive pests or livestock diseases that threaten crops and the wider food supply if they enter the country unchecked. Agriculture specialists and trained detector dogs are routinely used at U.S. ports of entry to identify these items before they reach domestic markets.
