I’ll set the scene… you just had a baby… your postpartum doula comes over and makes you a hot meal and an herbal infusion with specific herbs and ingredients aimed to aid your recovery. She makes you an herbal bath, again with herbs specific to healing. Then sets the mood so you can unwind and land back into your body after you just traveled to another dimension to BIRTH AN ENTIRE HUMAN. This isn’t luxury, this should be bare minimum 🙌 honor the mother - honor the process

Belly binding is an ancient postpartum tradition from numerous cultures around the world. There are different names for this beautiful process, but the essence remains the same in all cultures. Traditionally the elder women in the family or community would carry out this process, but in our culture it is usually performed by a doula, or anyone dedicated to honoring the early postpartum for mom.

The purpose of binding is not just to help the physical body, but to offer gentle healing to the energetic and spiritual body as well. Birth is a portal, and many women often feel very open energetically after birth. This can assist in the closing of the energetic field and help women emotionally to feel more contained and held. Physically, binding can support the abdominal muscles and organs as they shift back post birth. It reduces the risk of diastasis recti, which is a common problem for women that can last years after having a baby. This is a short list of the numerous benefits that binding gives you.

Something important to note about binding is that bodywork should always come before it. Abhyanaga - a warm oil massage - should be performed over the body first. You can add a warm herbal bath next (or skip this) and then proceed with the binding. I like to speak words of gratitude over mom and her womb as I’m preparing her body for the bind as well.

There are many different ways to bind, but what you see in the photo is bengkung belly binding which originates from Malaysia. I always want to pay homage to the lineage of these ancient practices.

It’s been one week since landing back home after the Retreat. We spent Mother’s Day weekend being mermaids in the desert floating down the river together celebrating 10 years of Innate Traditions Certification Training.

It’s wild to think Rachelle started putting this work out into the world 10 years ago when it only found me in 2024. I think of how different my postpartums would have been had I been given this information as a maiden. When I see women who have yet to become a mother holding this knowledge or being open to receive it, it makes me feel the waves that Rachelle has created with this work. That’s the whole point, right? It’s the re-membering, the putting back together what’s been forgotten and lost as Rachelle says.

Before arriving, I knew none of these women in real life, but there was a familiarness from every one of them. We are all tied together through this common thread that is Innate’s works. There were women from all over the world here. Some maidens, mothers and crones.. all coming together to camp under the stars and be in relationship with each other.

It was the most beautiful, nourishing 4 days I’ve had in a long time. And I don’t mean that because I was away from my kids (however sleeping through the night was kinda legit lol), but because I found the type of community that I’ve been craving.

This experience will always live near my heart. The bonds created and memories made are ones that last a lifetime. Until next time sisters 💗🌀✨

And if you’ve been feeling the call to do this work, now is your time to answer. This is the last year Innate’s training will look like this. Only a few more days to sign up!

Hey everyone! I’m Alex. A mama of two, prenatal yoga teacher and soon to be Innate Traditions certified postpartum practitioner! I’m located in Dover, just south of Canton.

I spent much of 2025 sitting in class and learning from the wise Rachelle Seliga-Garcia and her co-teachers. This work is near and dear to my heart. I first entered birthwork after my son was born in 2021. The lack of education and care in my own experience was the propelling force that led me to this work. I believe every woman deserves the knowledge to make empowering choices in the childbearing continuum. My experience into matrescence quite literally shaped who I am today and I believe that it shapes us all. Postpartum is an especially tender time that often gets overlooked in our modern culture. However, this is the time we need tended to and held most. My work is focused on the five universal needs of EVERY postpartum mother: rest, warmth, bodywork, nourishing food and community. If a mother has these needs met, she can not only survive postpartum, but thrive through it and beyond!

My offerings are as follows, but not limited to:
-emotional processing of birth and postpartum experience
-education around pregnancy, birth and postpartum
-lactation support
-nervous system regulation
-breathwork
-yoga (pre and postnatal)
-meditation
-in home cook of nourishing, nutrient dense foods (think meat stock, soups, warming mother bowls, etc)
-healing with herbs through infusions/teas, herbal baths, sitz baths & yoni steams
-light massage for body, head and feet
-moxibustion
-baby wearing support
-belly binding
-scar tissue tending
-placenta art prints
-light tidying/housework
& more!

I’m looking for one mama due in April or May to receive my care for a discounted rate as my last case study for my certification. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please private message me. I would love to care for you in this precious time! If you have any questions, please reach out.
All my love ❤️

Breastfeeding mamas or anyone who is having pain or tension in the upper back, shoulders and chest area, this one is for you! Spend some extra time in the starting pose on your back before moving on to seated. Then, once you get the hang of the movements slowwwww it way down and take time in each position to allow the breath to help you soften in the places of tension. Save for later and let me know what you think in the comments below 👇 hope this helps!! 💕

You’re invited to gather with us in honor of the Spring Equinox also referred to as the Vernal Equinox. The Spring Equinox is the halfway point between the summer and winter solstices and it marks the sun’s crossing over the equator. Most often this is known as the first day of spring! It’s a time of balance; an equal amount of night & day, light & dark and death & rebirth. Symbolically, this represents renewal. Together we’ll join in intention setting, yoga, meditation, time in nature, nourishing food & crafts/seed planting. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!

“The Earth begins to awaken from her slumber and brings with her the gift of new beginings, but only you can plant the seeds of awareness that nourish your dreams and bring them to life.” - Nell Regan Kartychok

Moms, save this for later. It’s a simple sequence for prenatal or postpartum! This is sped up just a bit so after you get the movement linked to your breath, slowww it down and take some time in each pose. Reach out if you have any questions at all!
