Why I made the switch…
My healthcare career was built in the conventional medical model, and I’m grateful for the training and experiences. Modern medicine saves lives every single day. In situations like trauma, infection, and acute illness; it’s absolutely essential. What conventional medicine is not good at is supporting longterm health.
For years, I witnessed nurses and providers (myself included) trying to care for more and more patients with less and less time. I saw people leaving appointments and hospital stays with more prescriptions and less answers. I saw patients genuinely wanting to improve their health without real resources.
Overtime I found myself asking different questions…
How could this have been prevented?
Why can’t I have 30 more minutes with this patient?
At what point did we miss the opportunity to educate, to intervene, or support this patient before now?
I started realizing that many of the things that have the greatest impact on longterm health - nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, community, purpose - were not being discussed.
What drew me in to functional medicine wasn’t that it replaced conventional medicine, but it helped me connect the dots. The human body is an amazing creation. Every system intricately connected, meaning nothing works in isolation.
Functional medicine gave me the framework to look deeper, ask the hard questions, spend more time understanding the whole person, and focusing on prevention, not just symptom management.
That is why I made the switch.
Not because I wanted less medicine.
Because I wanted more health.
More education. More prevention. More partnership.
These are the things that make an impact and deserve more attention.
And that’s exactly what Harmony Health with Tanya was built on.
I created Harmony Health with Tanya to offer care that is truly personalized and comprehensive. Care that restores balance in the body and empowers individuals to thrive!
If you’re curious about functional medicine or looking for a different kind of healthcare experience, I’d love to connect and continue the conversation.
