Kick The Stigma

Kick The Stigma Stigma impacts everyone, rooted in fears and misconceptions about health, disabilities, race, religion, gender, or culture.

Our mission is to address these issues by providing resources, education, and support, fostering a more inclusive community.

The language of mental health has entered everyday conversation, which is mostly good. But when clinical terms become casual shorthand for ordinary human experience, something important gets lost: the ability to recognize when someone actually needs help.

Here is what several of these words actually mean, and what they don’t:

June is National PTSD Awareness Month.
This month is dedicated to raising awareness about post‑traumatic stress disorder and encouraging those affected to seek support. PTSD can impact anyone who has experienced trauma — including veterans, survivors of assault, accidents, or natural disasters.

National PTSD Awareness Day is June 27, 2026, a day focused on reducing stigma, promoting understanding, and reminding us of the importance of recognizing symptoms and accessing effective treatment.

Throughout June, take time to learn about PTSD, share resources, and support those who may be struggling. Awareness creates understanding — and understanding helps people heal.

We at Kick The Stigma would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our community for your incredible support. Man, did you all show up!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, sponsored, shared our mission, and helped make this event such a success. The support we received was truly overwhelming, and we are so grateful to be part of a community that continues to stand together and support mental health awareness.

The excitement doesn't stop here. We are already hard at work planning for 2027 and coming up with even more fun ideas to make next year's event bigger and better.

If you are interested in joining our board or becoming a volunteer, please send us a message. We are always looking for passionate people who want to make a difference, and we would love to have you on our team.

Thank you again for helping us Kick The Stigma. We couldn't do it without you! 💙

THESE 👏 KIDS 👏 ARE 👏 AWESOME 👏
Pull up Saturday at 1245pm — you’ll be glad you did 💙

Hanging out with the organizers and DuBois Area High School student-volunteers for Saturday’s Kick the Stigma event at DuBois City Park… Several of these students will be joining me onstage at 12:45 p.m. for a panel discussion about how young people today are smashing stigmas unlike ever before and what the rest of us can learn from them!

As a token of appreciation, I gave each student our DM x JS x CEC “The 988 Coin,” “Thumbs Down to Bullying” backpack tag, and “The U.S. Flag Coin”—each one a symbol of overcoming stigmas in various ways, from mental health to what young people today are capable of doing! 🤗🧠🤗🧠🤗🧠
