Staying hydrated during labor matters — here’s why:

- Supports energy and stamina so you can cope with long or intense contractions ⚡
- Helps maintain blood volume and steady blood pressure for you and baby ❤️
- Aids effective uterine contractions, which can help labor progress naturally 🤱
- Prevents dizziness, headache, and muscle cramps from dehydration 💧
- Helps regulate body temperature and may reduce overheating or fever 🌡️
- Can ease nausea and keep you more comfortable overall 🤗

Tip: sip small amounts regularly — water, clear broths, or electrolyte drinks — and follow your care team’s guidance.

Let's talk about something incredibly important for all new parents: understanding the difference between the "baby blues" and Postpartum Depression (PPD). It's common to hear these terms, but knowing what sets them apart can make a huge difference in seeking the right support.

Why Does This Matter?
Understanding the distinction is crucial because while the baby blues often resolve with time and gentle support, PPD requires professional help. It's important to know that seeking support is a sign of strength, not failure. There are many effective treatments available, and you deserve to feel well and connected to your parenting journey.

If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms consistent with PPD, please reach out. As your doula, I can offer compassionate support and help connect you with affirming resources. You are not alone in this.
