ARRM Believes:

ARRM staff along with members attended ANCOR’s policy summit this week. As part of that summit we were able to meet with the office of both US Senators and many of our congressional representatives. During the meetings we shared information on both the Home and Community Based Services Relief Act as well as the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals bill, and asked for help in facilitating strong relationships between CMS, DHS and providers as we continue to implement strong program integrity standards.

Here at ARRM, we love celebrating the work our members are doing every day to support people with disabilities in their pursuit of full, meaningful lives. We're excited to share our first Member Spotlight, SMB Disability Solutions. SMB's Rural Day Program, also known as "The Farm," offers a unique opportunity to people with disabilities in the Rochester area to build skills and enjoy the benefits of agriculture in an adaptive setting. Don't forget! Applications for the second cohort of the New Americans Fellowship for Leadership in Long-Term Care with ARRM and STAR Services closes in one week!

The New Americans Fellowship for Leadership in Long-Term Care is a professional development program designed to support individuals who were born outside the United States, and/or their children, and are currently working in Minnesota's long-term care field.

Our first cohort is ongoing now, and we're already getting great feedback from participants. This fellowship provides training, mentorship, and career guidance to help participants grow their skills, advance into leadership roles, and strengthen the long-term care workforce. Applications for the New Americans Fellowship for Leadership in Long-Term Care are due by 5:00pm on September 11, 2026.

We are excited to share that ARRM's CEO Sue Schettle has been selected as ANCOR's 2026 Diane McComb State Association Star Award recipient. The Diane McComb State Association Star Award recognizes the outsized impact that a state provider association leader has had in advocating for the transformation of community-based disability services.

ANCOR shared that Sue was selected for her leadership of ARRM's provider association in Minnesota, particularly her "consistent advocacy to and with state partners has proven invaluable in the face of unanticipated federal challenges." In addition, ANCOR acknowledged Sue's contributions to ANCOR through sharing information and best practices with colleagues across the country. Sue will be recognized at ANCOR's 2026 Policy Summit later this month.
