We really do recover! I stay sober to be the happiest and healthiest version of myself.
This is exactly the promise I wrote to myself in my “I am Sober” app on 7/27/18.
For the first 3 months my hands and feet were still numb. Even though I stopped drinking at times my speech was slurred from something neurological (it was never confirmed by a doctor) but when you’re talking and your mouth isn’t forming the words fast enough and you sound like you can’t talk something is deathly wrong.
I was sick with the shakes, sweats, headache... you name it. I didn’t start to feel anything until maybe my 4th month sober.
I prayed everyday I didn’t have to go to rehab or a hospital. I had to take care of my Dad at the time and was determined to push through without drugs, the shot or any medical assistance.
This 1st picture you see is my 1 year sober at Starbucks which was also my Dads 81st Birthday.
I tried to get sober alone for 2 years and fell flat on my face every time. It was only by the grace of God a true super natural experience that allowed me to quit and stay clean & sober.
I lived in the gym 2x a day and ate the healthiest I could all while taking care of my Dad at the home.
Not everyone can get sober by a “do it yourself care plan” I’m fact I don’t recommend it.
Get with God, get connected to clean & sober people who have years under their belt and get the help you need. Church, rehab, meetings... you need every resource you can get.
I’m always a private DM away if you need a friend who understands.
God Bless You!
