Those middle-of-the-night feeds can feel so much harder when the rest of the world is sleeping. 🤍

A few tiny things can make them feel a little less exhausting: keep the lights low, have water + a snack within reach, get comfortable, and give yourself permission to do absolutely nothing else.

No scrolling because you “should catch up.”
No folding laundry.
No making the moment productive.

Just feed your baby and rest where you can.

And on the nights that feel especially long, remember: you don’t have to love every part of motherhood to be a really good mom.

Save this for your next 2am feed — or share with a mama who might need it tonight. 🤍

A little something for mama + baby 🫐🤍

This is one of our favorite pregnancy smoothies — packed with protein, healthy fats, fiber, greens + antioxidants to help keep you nourished and satisfied during pregnancy.

Because growing a tiny human is a lot of work… and sometimes getting in a balanced meal needs to be as easy as throwing everything in a blender ✨

Save this one for your next breakfast or afternoon snack! And send it to a pregnant mama who needs some easy nourishment inspo!

As National Breastfeeding Month comes to an end, I’ve found myself thinking about just how much breastfeeding has taught me. 🤍

Breastfeeding has been part of my life in so many ways - as a nurse, an IBCLC, and most importantly, as a mom myself.

It’s taught me that breastfeeding is rarely as simple as we expect it to be. It can be beautiful and hard, empowering and exhausting - sometimes all at once.

More than anything, it’s taught me to listen. To meet mothers where they are, understand what matters to them, and remember that goals can change along the way.

There is no one version of success. Every mother deserves to feel supported in finding hers. 🤍

What has breastfeeding taught you? I’d love to hear — share yours below. 👇

SAVE THIS ONE 🍼🤍

Because no one wants to be standing in front of the fridge at 2am Googling “how long is breastmilk good for again?” 😅

💛Breastfeeding in public is not something you need permission to do.

✨In Rhode Island, state law specifically protects your right to breastfeed or bottle-feed your child in any place open to the public. You do not have to cover up, leave, or find a private space simply because someone else is uncomfortable. R.I. Gen. Laws § 23-13.5-1. (Rhode Island Legislature)

✨And when you return to work, federal law provides additional protections. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended by the PUMP Act, most covered nursing employees are entitled to reasonable break time to express breast milk and a private space that is shielded from view, free from intrusion, and not a bathroom, for up to one year after their baby’s birth. (U.S. Department of Labor)

✨Your baby needs to eat. Your body needs to be supported. And you deserve to know your rights.

Ever wondered? Or are confused as to what is best for you? Let’s talk about it! 👇🏼

Doula vs. Midwife: what’s the difference?

Both can be an incredibly valuable part of your birth team, but their roles, training, and scope of practice are different.

A doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. They’re there to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered, but they do not provide medical care.

A midwife is a licensed healthcare professional who provides clinical care throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum, including monitoring the health and safety of both parent and baby.

And here’s the important part: you don’t necessarily have to choose one or the other. Doulas and midwives can work alongside one another to support you in different ways.

Understanding your options can help you build a birth team that feels right for you. Save this post for later and share it with an expecting mom who might find it helpful.

🌈 August 22 was Rainbow Baby Awareness Day, a day to honor the babies born after loss and the mothers who carry both grief and hope in their hearts.

✨ A rainbow baby doesn’t erase the storm that came before. For many families, joy and grief can exist side by side. There can be deep gratitude for the baby in your arms while still holding love and remembrance for the baby you lost.

✨ To every rainbow mama: your story matters. Your loss matters. Your hope matters. And you never have to choose between honoring the baby you lost and celebrating the baby you have.

✨ At Mothers Haven, we hold space for all of it.
