Steam first. That’s what registers before the taste, before the warmth of the mug in your hands, even before you sit down: the way it rises off white ceramic on weathered wood and tells you to slow down for a second. A hand holds the pyramid bag just above the water. Mid-steep, the moment when ginseng is doing its work. Heil Harvest Ginseng Tea ($24.99 / 30 bags): grown in Wisconsin, good anywhere worth sitting still. ☕

The Heil Harvest Field Run Roots, 8oz ($54.99) is whole dried root from Marathon County, Wisconsin. Nothing extracted, nothing added. Add a root to simmering water and steep for 15 to 20 minutes. The flavor builds slowly: earthy at first, then faintly bitter, with a sweetness underneath. This is what American ginseng tastes like when it's grown properly and not rushed to market. Four to five years per plant, minimum. 🍂 Shop Heil Ginseng at heilginseng.com

Late February soil in Wisconsin is still frozen, but something shifts in the first week of March. ☀️ The body gets the message before the calendar does. The Heil Harvest Field Run Roots, 8oz ($54.99) is a good thing to reach for at that threshold. Pull one root from the pouch, add it to a small pot of water, let it work slowly.

First week of March. The light is a few minutes longer than it was last week, and your body registers it before your brain does: that quiet shift from enduring winter to finally turning the corner. This is a good week to make the morning intentional again.

Every fall, our plants produce clusters of bright red fruit. Inside each one: 1-3 seeds that we harvest by hand and replant for the next generation of roots.

The berry is where a 4-year cycle begins. Pick the seed, plant it, wait. Four years later, a root worth harvesting.
